Inspiration To Keep Going

There appear to be times in my life when I just want to throw my hands up in the air and say Enough is Enough!

Recently one of these times came upon me and a combination of technological "no idea", frustration, tireness and feeling overwhelmed resulted in me loosing a years worth of writing. I was devestated.

I knew I would re-create the writing because the topic, Meditation, is a core component of my life. However I just could not make myself begin.

Have you ever decided to do something, know it's a great idea and then done everything you could to avoid actually getting started?

I wanted to write about meditation, how it can be a really powerful force for good in your life and what some of benefits it may bring into your life.

So in my intense activity of avoidance and procrastination, I picked up a gardening magazine (another core part of my life) and began to flick through it.

And there it was. My Inspiration. Inside the back cover.

It was a quote from James Allen, from his classic book “As A Man Thinketh”.

Now obvsiously I'd heard of James Allen and of this book but the truth is I'd never actually read it. So I did some research and found an e-book to download and such an array of resources related to this that I knew this was a great place for me to begin again.

What were the words that had such an inspirational effect on me? Please let me share them with you here.

“Calmness of mind is one of the beautiful jewels of wisdom...

The more tranquil a man becomes, the greater is his success,

his influence, and his power for good.”

Meditation Delivers The Calmness We Crave

Meditation is a wonderful pathway to 'calmness of mind'. It is indeed one the 'beautiful jewels of wisdom' of which James Allen speaks in his wonderful little book.

As my inspriation began to bubble up inside me, I started to think about why we would think about this as a treasure in our lives.

It didn't really take me very long to come up with quite a sizable list. I only had to look at my week and see the number of tasks, people, problems needing solutions and distances needing to be travelled to see that my need for a calm and tranquil space should be very high on my pirority list. In fact in order to do all the things I want to do, Meditation should be number 1!

Well, it is of course. I write about it, I attend a weekly meditation group in my local area and we sit in quiet companionship for an hour or so and it is wonderful.

In the past, I've struggled to fit Meditation into my day – even into my week at times – but as my relationship with Meditation developed and as I began to exprience it's many benefits it became easier and easier. Now, it is the first thing I do for myself each and every day.

I recommend meditation.

  • Find a teacher,
  • read a book,
  • listen to a guided meditation,
  • join a class or
  • just find an inspirational place to sit for just a few minutes each day and close your eyes. Breathe in the calm and remember who you really are.

Many blessings on your journey.
