Imagery and Meditation for Child Birth

Meditation was always a way of finding peace for me during my times of difficulty. During my labor I found a few imagery sessions to be beneficial to my situation. During my early phase of labor it was best for me to walk, relax and watch funny movies. I found that the the more relaxed I was the smoother my labor and contractions. These mental exercises were done in conjunction with breathing exercises and squatting during my labor.

Flowers Opening Meditation

Goal: Thinning and opening of the Cervix

It only took me 3 and a half hours to get to 7-cm dilated for my first birth. Try and speed things up with this meditation.

Begin with your deep breathing exercises. Think of a garden of tulips all sitting in rows and sections . As the contraction begins imagine the first row or section opening as you breath. For each contraction imagine flowers opening and the bud blooming opening to the sun. The sun is warm on your face and you body is heating up. Focus on a beautiful flower bud tightly closed but ready to open, ready to face the sun. The petals are bending and start to peel back. The main petals are revealed and the color so vivid that you want to see more. As the flower opens you continue to breath and release tension. Larger and larger petals open revealing more colors. Release tension as the contraction dies down. Rest your body and mind in-between contractions to conserve energy. Continue imagery as contractions continue.

Womb Breathing Massage and Meditation

You can communicate to your baby while in the womb not only by talking to your baby but thru your heart beat and your slow monitored breathing. Deep smooth slow breathing is a way of letting your baby know that everything is all right even when your baby is inside of your womb. Breathing is a way of communicating your confidence in the pregnancy and your relaxed state of mind.

Meditation

Take a few deep breaths. With every breath imagine that you are massaging your baby. Your breath is washing over your baby as he grows inside of you. Your pulse slowing down in turn relaxes your baby. You two are connected thru the umbilical cord, your pulse feeding your babies pulse. Know that you are safe and connected thru love.

Holding Baby Imagery and Meditation

Even before I was pregnant I used this meditation to feel pregnant in the hopes that I would get conceive a child. Meditation was a wonderful gift that allowed me to stay positive even when I was having difficulty conceiving. I also used this meditation during my delivery.

Image holding your happy, healthy baby in your arms. Rocking your baby to sleep, humming or singing your favorite song. Feel your baby's hands touch your hand or chest. Your cheek is rubbing against a full head of hair. As your baby nuzzles against you, feel the corners of your mouth turn up and your eyes and forehead soften. Looking down at your baby your eyes are half open and soft. Breath in your baby's smell and feel the heat generated from the two of you.

I hope that my Meditation hubs help you find peace and love in your lives. I also hope that they inspire you to come up with your own imagery and meditation sessions.
