There are various meditation techniques one can employ. Meditation has been most people’s choice of relaxation activity choice for almost 5,000 years now. Many have been associating it as one of the ancient pagan rituals as most of the meditation routines have its roots from ancient foreign religious groups. Presently, it was adapted by health and fitness enthusiast as an effective way to relax and attain a holistic wellbeing. Meditation has benefited its followers of good health, stronger immune system and resistance from chronic illness.


Christians have developed their own meditation routine which includes reflecting on a scripture from the bible and repeating some positive messages from it. Meditation was also proven as a medium to stop negative and harmful vices such as smoking. Practicing meditation can also relieve an individual from stress and anxiety which are some of the factors that leads to chronic health problems.


Each person is a special and unique individual. What works for some people may not work for you entirely. There are various meditation routines you can try to evaluate. You may try three kinds of techniques and decide which one works best for you. You may try breathing meditation, sound meditation or visual meditation. For now, I would like to introduce visual meditation to you. Follow the procedure below and be relaxed.


1. Start off on picking out which picture you find relaxing. You can get these pictures from relaxation websites. Some would be pictures of the ocean, a brook or similar scenery.

2. Next, select a location you are most comfortable of to meditate. Try to choose the most peaceful place if possible. See to it that you can expect minimum noise or distraction from anyone. Your room is the best choice.

3. Then, perform some little warm-up exercise before proceeding to your routine. Sit down on the floor on a half lotus position.

4. Next, close your eyes and do a slow breathing exercise. You can do a humming sound if you are comfortable on doing it. Do this for 5 minutes while gradually accelerating your phase. You will tend to feel lighter and relaxed as you go along.

5. Finally, take out the visual you have chosen. Images are very powerful and efficient means of achieving a relaxed and secure state. The color of green alone sends a relaxing feel to your eyes. Do this regularly everyday to ensure you make most of the routine.
