Many men love wearing bras, but find that getting one to fit is quite a hassle. Don't worry guys, women have the same problem. Brasseries actually involve a fair bit of engineering to get them even close to conforming to the human physique, and even then not all bras are made equal, or will fit a person equally well.
As any woman or man who wears lingerie knows, bras are usually 2 to 3 times the price of panties. With this in mind, it's always good to have a bra that fits. Here's a guide to help you choose the perfect bra size.
How To Measure Yourself For A Bra
Wrap a tape around your chest under your arms. This is your band size, and corresponds to the 34, 36, 38, whatever size you happen to be, part of the measurement.
Then take the tape measure and measure across the fullest part of your chest, usually across your nipples. Your cup size is dictated by how much bigger this measurement is than your band size. For example if you are 34 in the first measurement, and 35 in the second, then you are an A cup. If you are two inches larger, you're a B, and the list goes on.
Of course even if you do measure yourself properly, there are always variances in manufacturers sizings, so you may still have some trial and error involved. If you have the opportunity to try a bra on before you buy it, take it, as you will learn about that manufacturer's particular sizings.
Is It The Right Fit?
There are a couple of main factors that tell you if a bra is fitting correctly or not.
If your bra fits well., then the strap across your back lies in a straight line. It shouldn't be riding up on your back at all. Having the back of the bra out of alignment suggests that you are wearing the wrong sized bra, or that you need to loosen the shoulder straps a little.
If you have any red marks on your skin, then your bra is not the right size. Even when wearing an under wire bra, your skin should not be rubbed red by the action of the bra against your chest. If this occurs, then chances are your band size is too small, and you need to go up a size.
There you go men, have at it. Remember to remeasure yourself if you loose or gain weight, as this will almost certainly affect your bra size.

At least am sure a bra wont be sexy on me LOL
*wink* Doth you protest a little too much?
As Hope says, the best way to buy a bra is to try it on, even better get fitted. You'd be surprised how willing the sales ladies are to work with you. My best experiences have been a small botiques but the big stores work as well And once you find a size that fits, my experience is brand to brand can be quite a bit different for the same size.
Doreen
I love wearing bras and do most days with breast enhancers. wWould love to try them on before buying .
It is really great wearing bra.
I love it to the max.
Hey whats wrong men wearing a bra i know my husband wears one and hes happy i dont stop him as i say if hes happy let him be
check out glamorise exclusively a/b series - available at jcpenny.com but not in the store - I have several 50a T-shirt bra's that are great
Where can I find a 40" A cup bra in the UK ( and lingerie and dresses) that are actually designed to fir men? All of the shops and websites that I have tried are selling womens fit and most of my clothes and lingerie are therefore a compromise.
I agree with Doreen. The best way to find a bra that fits is to have a proper fitting in a shop. I found salesladies in small shops are mostly very helpful. It´s much better to take your courage and get yourself fitted than disappointing buys from internetstores.
So guys take your courage and try it. It´s a nice experience. The salesladies know that there are some men who buy bras for themselves.
i went into a local ladies apparel shop to purchase bras for myself and one of the sales clerk assisted me in finding the correct size plus how to put a bra on putting the arms through the strap and reaching behind to hook it awkward at first but no problem and i wear a bra 24/7.i am transitiong from m2f
no need at all to wear a bra but i do it just fels so good and of corse panties all the time
Thank you for this guide. I'm still quite shy about going out and getting fitted, this should help me out allot in fitting myself. Keep up the good work.
Hi Fearn, don´t be shy. There is nothing wrong with a man wearing a bra. I know it is not easy to go to a store and ask for a fitting. But believe me. The salesladies know that a lot of men buy lingerie for themselves. So far I have been treated with respect and courtesy. With some help you get a bra that really fits. Look for a small shop and go there early in the morning. So you will not meet any other female customers. Just try it.
ok so I have never bought a bra for myself but would like to now i do tend to think going and geting fitted would be the best way to go however I am incredibly shy! I was jsut kinda wondering if this was more else globaly happining or what not as well i do live in a small little town and was wondering if going to one of the small little shops in town was best or going to a place like la senza would be better?THanks for all the articles so fare Hope your an insperation to many by the looks of it:P keep up the insigtfull writing
Too many commenters laugh their LOL (nervously?), but they read the article, didn't they? Do men have the right to wear bras or pantyhose (or something else)? Who says they can't? Should care if anyone tries to judge you or label you? Do they have the right?
Remember Joe Namath? It was a hugely successful ad campaign about an American football player who wore pantyhose under his football uniform like others do. So do skaters, hockey players, hunters, winter sportsmen, fishermen, skiers, and construction workers in winter.
For me it's not a fashion statement; it's choosing the right amount of wooly insulation. At home, that's another story, and when I choose to divulge, it can be soft and sensual with my wife now and then. There is a shared natural endorphen release when we get very close wearing something sensual. The day's stresses disappear. Did Hope ever discuss the endorphen effect?
Let the insecure townspeople storm your castle with torches. The monster is actually their own intolerance and ignorance. Pursue what you want in life (as long as it hurts no one). If it feels good, do it.
I've been wearing bras most of my 63 years.I've been fitted and it does really help. The sales lady's have all been real good and seem to go out of their way for me,making sure I have the right bra for me and most times they ask if I need some panties to go with them.also lot's say this bra may good great with a certain dress or skirt. Over the years I've gotten over my fears and ask if they don't want to help I go to a shop where they will.Well you all have a nice day.
Yvettes
i have been wearing bras 40years and go out with them under my clothes i feel so great in them
i love wearing bras, theres nothing like it.i wear them all the time every where.have been for thirty years.also wear womens pantys and nylons.
WHAT IS WRONG WITH WEARING A BRA AND PANTIES IT FELT GREAT THE VERY FIRST TIME I PUT THEM ON AT A VERY YOUNG AGE I ALSO WEAR GARTER BELTS AND NYLONS. IF MORE MEN WORE A BRAS IT WOULD BE NO BIG DEAL. SO COME ON MEN LETS WEAR THEM IN PUBLIC AND NOT WORRY ABOUT IT. I DO.
It seems to have escaped modern society the the US was founded by men who wore wigs. blouses with lace cuffs, silk stockings and shos with three inch heels, and no one found them to be in any way unmasculine. No doubt they fully enjoyed the sensual quality of their more luxurious clothing, but this priviledge has been largely denied to modern men.
I wear a bra and love it. Several years ago after much frustration from trying to find one that would fit, I met a lady in a lingerie store that asked the right question when I was "browsing" in the bra department Her question....not what size is SHE... but rather Is this for you? She spent over an hour fitting me properly for a bra much to the absolute horror of some of the women in her shop.
Bottom line that one fit wonderfully and I still shop at her store.
I have been wearing panties daily for 15 - 20 years and occasionally a bra - I have no practical reason to wear the latter it is just a sensuous peice of clothing. I am usuallu careful to avoid exposing myself to others as I am aware that not all guys would feel comfortable seeing me dressed in these garments - strange when you think about the pretty riske underwear you can now buy for guys - which I also enjoy. Anyway I agree with many of the above comments and feel pretty relaxed aboout myself now. My wife knows and we share an interest in what is cute and sexy.
Not all bras even in the same sizing fit the same...I would like to trade off some mine that don't....faves of mine are nylon or satin unlined and lace trimmed, panties to match when I can.Sexy is great but fit is everything when your wearing them for 16-18 hours.
Hi there,
I love to wear bra and panty....infact wear it evryday to work.....it gives me more confidence
i now wear a bra and panties and nylons or pantyhose everyday it feels so good in them. iwear them to work also i get asked where i get my bras from other female workers i tell them . i get some at jcpenney and some at dillards some at walmart when they are open 24 hours a day . get a sales person to fit you so you do not buy the wrong size . i not shy anymore about asking for help on bras . i get complements from other female workers on how nice they look on me .so men do not be shy about wearing a bra in public or to work .my wife even helps me pick out everything also and loves me in womens cloths also. so men you will enjoy it also i like seeing men in bras and panties showing over there pants or whatever there wearing .thanks.
bras are a very powefull item. wearing one is both stimulating and restrictive in the chest area. Women are fortunate to be able to fille the bra out
hope you have the best information out there on the web for bras and panties and everything else . can you do a blog on where everone could get bra inserts for those who would like them. or we can hear from others where they got theres .i am already wearing a 44c cup now and want to get to a 44dd cup with large nipples also.. my female coworkers would like to see me that size also along with my wife. in my years of wearing a bra to work and lifting and working long hours the wide band bra strap worked best. for me.anyway hope keep up the good work and blogs. ilove to wear bras and panties and all womens cloths so dont be shy men .womens cloths are very classy and more comfortable than mens .thanks .
Like Hope says, there are many men who love wearing bra and panties and then many again who'd really love to wear bras and panties. I being a man (as per my genitalia and not as per my mind), after all these long years of wearing bras and panties (thongs, micro, string, etc. included), I'm still wondering why they make these things so soft, so comfortable, so sensuous and so sexy whereas the mens underwear are so dull, uncomfortable and boring. No reason why men should not indulge in these delicate things. I wish more and more lingerie manufacturers would come out with mens underwear that are similar to the women ones.
None of these hubs are aimed at teenagers who also like to wear female undergarments, what are they to do when they are often touched by hugs from teenage females or given a clap on the back from a male friend?
Najee, I've responded to you before. Teenagers aren't the only subsection of society who are touched by other humans. You're not all that different, so please, stop acting like your age is really an issue here. If you don't want people feeling your bra strap, don't wear one, wear a camisole. Problem solved.
Sorrry, i didnt see a response comment earlier.
I think I actually emailed you via HubPages, but it is possible it got caught up in the system. Anyway, the gist of it was basically in my last comment. Teenagers are people too, most things I write in my hubs apply to men of all ages.
Hi Everyone,
I started wearing a Bra to work today and just love it! I felt so much better and way more confident.
And thankyou Hope, your very kind and supportive reply to my email is very much appreciated.
Although Iave gynocomastia I have tied large band bras with an "A"cup and I still cannot fill the cup! If I wear a smaller band bra with a "A" or even some "B" cups, I fill them in fine however, I need a couple of bra extenders and then the straps don't fit correctly! Hope, what do I do? I would like to increase my breast size but just cannot seem to make them larger? Also my nipple and areola have stayed the same size! Small. What can I do?
Erica, I say you work with what God gave you, short of getting really fat or having implants, that's all you can do. As to the bra fitting issue, I'll get back to you on that...
To Erica and Hope.
The best possible way to increase your breast size, without the risks of surgery or synthetic hormones.
is the "Flat2Fem herbal Treatment method" by Lucille Sorella.
You can "Google" it or goto http://www.Flat2Fem.com for the information. I did, Plus I've researched the Herbs in detail and they really work.
I hope that this helps.

I am a guy that likes bras. I own several but want to have a fitting done. Can guys get a bra fitting at the stores?
It very much depends on the store. All you can do is ask :) Many men find that many stores are very accommodating to their needs.
Hi Tim, of cours you can get a fitting at a store. You just need the courage to go in and ask. My experience so far is that most sales ladies at the shops are friendly and professional. And you get a bra that really fits.
There was one lady who claimed to own a lingerie shop who said that she didn't serve male clients because she didn't want to alienate her existing female base, so it does pay to ask first.
Hi: Well do you all know of any major store chains off hands that would do the bra fittings for the men and women both?

Check out the comments on some of the related hubs to this one, and you'll see that a great many men like to wear bras, panties, and even other types of lingerie.
Note that I said 'many', and not 'most', or 'all'.
