Men In Bras: How To Get A Bra That Fits

Many men love wearing bras, but find that getting one to fit is quite a hassle. Don't worry guys, women have the same problem. Brasseries actually involve a fair bit of engineering to get them even close to conforming to the human physique, and even then not all bras are made equal, or will fit a person equally well.

As any woman or man who wears lingerie knows, bras are usually 2 to 3 times the price of panties. With this in mind, it's always good to have a bra that fits. Here's a guide to help you choose the perfect bra size.

How To Measure Yourself For A Bra

Wrap a tape around your chest under your arms. This is your band size, and corresponds to the 34, 36, 38, whatever size you happen to be, part of the measurement.

Then take the tape measure and measure across the fullest part of your chest, usually across your nipples. Your cup size is dictated by how much bigger this measurement is than your band size. For example if you are 34 in the first measurement, and 35 in the second, then you are an A cup. If you are two inches larger, you're a B, and the list goes on.

Of course even if you do measure yourself properly, there are always variances in manufacturers sizings, so you may still have some trial and error involved. If you have the opportunity to try a bra on before you buy it, take it, as you will learn about that manufacturer's particular sizings.

Is It The Right Fit?

There are a couple of main factors that tell you if a bra is fitting correctly or not.

If your bra fits well., then the strap across your back lies in a straight line. It shouldn't be riding up on your back at all. Having the back of the bra out of alignment suggests that you are wearing the wrong sized bra, or that you need to loosen the shoulder straps a little.

If you have any red marks on your skin, then your bra is not the right size. Even when wearing an under wire bra, your skin should not be rubbed red by the action of the bra against your chest. If this occurs, then chances are your band size is too small, and you need to go up a size.

There you go men, have at it. Remember to remeasure yourself if you loose or gain weight, as this will almost certainly affect your bra size.

Check out the comments on some of the related hubs to this one, and you'll see that a great many men like to wear bras, panties, and even other types of lingerie.

Note that I said 'many', and not 'most', or 'all'.

As Hope says, the best way to buy a bra is to try it on, even better get fitted. You'd be surprised how willing the sales ladies are to work with you. My best experiences have been a small botiques but the big stores work as well And once you find a size that fits, my experience is brand to brand can be quite a bit different for the same size.
