Cornrows originated from Africa, mostly worn by African/American females but now there are so many boys/men of various nationalities wearing Cornrows and it looks quite trendy. With Cornrows - the hair is braided close to the scalp. It is a popular hairstyle for teens and young men.

Lots of Celebrities now adorn this hairstyle and it really suits them. Example:

My Favourite footballer David Beckham. David is a Fashion Icon and changes hairstyles a lot. On a few occasions he has worn Cornrows

Beckham

Lemar Obika – Lemar a talented RnB Singer is from Nigeria, born in the UK. I have never seen him without Cornrows. I hope he gives me a call when his hairdresser goes on holiday, so I can stand in, as I can do Cornrows.

Lemar

Good points

  • It’s a unique look.
  • It can be very stylish.
  • The ladies love it. (don’t all rush to the hairdressers)
  • It changes/enhances the face.

Not so good

  • It can take 1 to 2 hours to do.
  • If you do it all the time – it’s costly (unless it’s a friend doing it)

PS. If you are based in London, UK and need Cornrows done, Call: 0781 865 0170.

It's a good style for young people. It's good to have a lot of styling choices.

Lady E,

Great Hub!

Cornrows are very artistic! You are right they can be worn "stylishly" as you say. You have given some wonderful illustrations. I see you are sharing another facet of your

many talents as well.

Blessings!

Cornrows are a unique style and like every other style, not everyone can wear them. However, David Beckham could ware anything and look great! He is just pure class from the inside out!

I use to sport the cornrow hair style, but now I just sport the "long rasta dread locks"it's easier to maintain!

* Waren, "long rasta dread locks"? Yah man! You have to change your Avatar for aday so we can see it. Its quite a nice look.

Hi Lady_E

In my country, South Africa the hip African men love wearing cornrows. I think it looks clean and you know that these people really take the time and effort to make themselves look good.

I never realized it took them so long to get their hair looking so neat. I will remember this in future.

Great hub!

Very nice hub. Infact, I used to think that it is an African afair, I now know better. Really, the hair style is worn by both boys and girls nowadays. The men in the entertainment industry are not left out. Thanks for sharing.

* Hi Laura, it does take time - but being beautiful or should I say handsome, comes with a price. Lol.

* Hello Philipo, everyone's wearing it. Sometimes I even do it for my brother and it really suits him.

* Aaaah One2get2no - as soon as you've grown it out, I'll do some nice cornrows for you. Lol.

* Nice to hear from you Pastor Tosan. Thanks
