Practical Help For The Relief Of Menopause Symptoms

You're standing in line at the supermarket and the air conditioner is going full blast, yet you're sweating like a pig. Is it any wonder why the trio of sniggling teenage girls behind you are staring like you're from Mars. Feeling the embarrassing hot flash finally starting to subside, you think to yourself, "Don't worry you little wenches, your day will come soon enough! Then you'll see how really funny it is!"

Often referred to as "the change of life", symptoms of menopause have been known to plague women ever since the dawn of time. The annoying thing about menopause is, technically, you are not sick, but typically you don’t feel well. This is because there are a number of irritating symptoms that are attached to menopause.

Common Symptoms Of Menopause

Menopause is known to wreak havoc with a woman’s emotions. This can be attributed to the hormonal changes that occur and throw the body into a state of flux. Two symptoms of menopause that women commonly experience are: Hot flashes and night sweats. The body becomes so hot and flushed that many women refer to this as having their “own private summer.” Depression and mood swings may also occur. Extreme feelings of melancholy can be brought on for no apparent reason other than frustration over all the other symptoms!

Two significant changes occur in a woman’s body during menopause, thus the term Change Of Life. The most notable change is the fact that over time, your monthly period gradually ceases to exist. Not only will you no longer get a monthly period, your body can no longer reproduce. Some women don’t know whether to laugh or cry over this! Because it can occur differently for each woman, a woman is not considered post-menopausal until she has gone a whole year without a menstrual cycle

One other significant change occurs when the estrogen in your system begins to diminish and your body must adjust as it decreases. The hormonal imbalance that results can be blamed for more than half the symptoms associated with menopause.

The onset of menopause usually occurs at age 51 (give or take a few years either way). While there is no actual cure for this uncomfortable and often unsettling condition, there are some things you can do and eat, to help eliminate discomfort.

Practical Solutions To Symptoms Of Menopause

Soybeans and soy products are known for relieving the annoying and frustrating systems of menopause. Soy is rich in isoflavones, antioxidants, Omega-3’s and protein. Packed with these essential ingredients, a regular soy intake can help to combat menopause symptoms, especially hot flashes and night sweats. Women who are prone to allergies and other sensitivities should consult their physician regarding proper soy intake.

  • Here are five practical ways for you to help yourself relieve the symptoms of menopause.
  • Stay healthy, and try to get plenty of rest so you don’t compound the problem.
  • Wear layers of clothes, so when a hot flash comes on, you can take something off and experience a sense of relief.
  • Start timing how long your particular hot flashes last. Typically, they are no more than five or six minutes. Estimating when the flash will end helps endure it better.
  • Keep a small battery operated or even an oriental hand fan, where you can reach it easily. A small breeze can provide a welcome relief.
  • Maintain a good sense of humor. Laughter is a great remedy for whatever ails you.

Natureade - A Tasty Soy Product

For a tasty soy product that can provide the recommended daily dosage of soy for women, I like the Natureade Chocolate Meal Replacement drink.  I enjoy this drink because:

1) It has Soy - good for you in more ways than one (including like mentioned above)

2) It has Calcium - which we women also need to find ways to put back into our bodies (especially when menopausal)

3) It is a Meal Replacement - for those who are watching their diets, it can be mixed and drank instead of having a meal.

4)
It taste good, can be mixed in a variety of ways and it fills you up.

There are also other brands of soy flavored drinks on the market that are similar to Natureade.
