Sandy visited Ami at the hospital a few days following her painful arrival home. She was careful in her visits, as she suspected as Ami feared, of being watched. So the girls got clever and had Sandy meet her brother who posed as a boyfriend to take the stalker on a wild goose chase through town. It took some doing to lose the car who often followed behind, but they managed to switch cars often with friends to accomplish the task. The girls giggled when they came up with a new plan. They had only her brothers friends come in, with Sandy disguised as one of them, so as not to alert whomever was after Ami to cause her harm. Sandy had brought the letter from England and the large envelope stuffed with money to Ami the next day. The letter was official, and from her grandfather's lawyer. It claimed she was given her mother's inheritance of half a million pounds in English money. It would be deposited in her account within the week. The loose cash of five thousand dollars was yet another mystery. A pay off? What for...because she left England and her strange relatives behind, to do what they wanted with the estate?

Ami's mouth flew open when she saw the amount in the letter. Handing Sandy the papers with shaky hands, she waited as her friend read its contents. Ami quickly hushed her as Sandy was about to let out a loud squeal.

Sandy whispered hoarsely. "Gees Ami, and you thought you had no family after your Momma died. Now you find out you are rich too boot. No wonder someone is trying to knock you off!"

The girls giggled nervously, looking quickly about. Sandy's brother waited out in the hall protectively with his friends. They were oblivious to the situation, having been only told Ami was afraid of some unknown stalker. When Ami was allowed to leave the hospital, the arrangements had already been made. She was to stay with Sandy's brother and his two roommates, who shared a large house. Sandy reassured Ami they were a safe lot. No harm would come to her, although she might be dealing with their strange sci-fi fetish and an old sheep dog named Midwicket. Spider would stay with Sandy until other arrangements were made. To remove Ami's contents discreetly from her apartment and find her a new home so she then could be reunited with her cat.

The plan went well on the day Ami was released. She felt happy to be out of her white prison and back amongst the living. She was treated to a special coffee by her friends at Ami's old haunt, her favorite coffee shop. That was when she felt eerily unsettled. The others were laughing around her, as one of the young men had shared an off-color joke. Ami was staring across the room at her stalker. When Johnny left his table, her heart beat wildly in her chest. She gasped, fearing he was heading her way.

"Sandy, it's him...it's Johnny!" she whispered quickly to her friend. "We have to go...he's seen us all together. What should we do now?"

Adam, Sandy's brother caught some of the conversation and hushed his friends.

"Who is it Ami, we'll take care of him!" he looked behind him just in time to see a young man's back heading out the coffee shop doors. Before Ami could stop him, he and his young friends went after Johnny with pure determination to do him harm.

Ami called after them..."stop, no...please stop!" she burst into tears, as Sandy tried to comfort her.

Adam turned and looked back only for a moment, then went in pursuit after the Englishman who had followed her home.  When the young men returned slowly, Ami was still bawling uncontrollably.  He placed his hand on Ami's shoulder and reassured her.

"We lost sight of him... that guy is fast!  Who is he anyway...is he really a stalker, or an old boyfriend?"

Sandy hushed her brother.  "Quit with the questions, can't you see she is upset?"  When Ami gained her composure, Sandy walked her to the car slowly, trying to show her friend all would be fine, the time would pass and she could get on with her life.  That was when it happened...a motorcycle appeared out of nowhere, aiming right for the group.  They all jumped out of the way just in time.

Adam cursed the rider, shaking his fist after him.  "Hey watch it buddy, you can hurt people that way!"  Ami fell to the ground, as she had passed out from the shock.  The face she saw staring back at her...was Johnny's.
