Metallica - the new album
Metallica's new album is now scheduled for release in September 2008, after a couple of previous delays. The album was first said to be released in February 2008 but rumours are flying around stating that the band now has six weeks to complete the new album if they are going to get it ready for release in september. However, the exact release date has not yet been decided. A comforting thought to the waiting fans is that the last time Metallica spent this much time in the studio they were working on THE BLACK ALBUM and if the results on this project lives up to that album, Metallica fans are in for a treat.
The upcoming album is Metallica's 9th studio album and the first with freshman bassplayer Robert Trujillo. The album is currently untitled but it's possible it will take the title of one of the songs which has been common with metallica's previous albums. However, no authentic song titles have been annonunced yet either. The upcoming album is supposed to have a more progressive and melodic style featuring more guitar solo's the the previous couple of albums. This may prove to be much appreciated by the old school Metallica fans, including myself, who miss Kirk Hammetts good old and loooong gutiar solo's. Those solo's are so recognizable and essential to Metallica's style and needless to say they form an important part of Metallica's soul. The style of the new album is said to be closer to the classic albums Master of puppets and ...and justice for all then any of the recent recordings, this is definetely a good sign. It has even been described as the missing link between "Justice" and "the black album", of course this is all talk and rumours, and I for one need to hear it for myself before I belive it.
For the upcoming album Metallica is working with producer Rick Rubin which has previously worked with the likes of Guns 'n roses. It will be exciting to see how this will effect Metallica's sound.
With all the rumours flying around about the new album let's hope we can at least trust the word Metallica's own drummer Lars Ulrich:
Quote of Lars Ulrich in an interview with BBC6 Radio concerning the new record
"I like what I've heard so far I'm not one of the great sellers of the new record's the best thing we've ever done and it shits all over the last record and it's way heavier'"
Let's hope the lads in metallica will keep their promise and serve us a new metallica album that rocks!
Update April 22nd
According to sources on the web (including wikipedia), the release date for the new Metallica album will be september 9th 2008, that is the ninth of september 2008! This information has not yet been officially confirmed by Metallica , but the band is supposed to officially announce this release date as well as the title of the new album on May 10th before going off on their European tour.

Isn't this Robert Trujillo's second album?
To Vince:
No dumbass Bob Rock Took up the old bass for St. Anger. Trujillo is only to be seen in the video of st. anger. they finnished the album befor Rob came to the HQ.
This is true! Trujillo was not participating in the actual recording St.anger. I don't appreciate namecalling though

I really hope that it will be good. St. Anger, Load and Reload sucked, but the first 4 were awesome!
