For those who love shooter games, the Metroid Prime 3: Corruption will definitely be a dream come true. This Metroid game is the tenth ever to be created in the popular Nintendo video game series, and the first version available for the Wii.

In Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, a player gets to play Samus, a bounty hunter in a galaxy full of aliens, starships, and lots of action. The story is that the Galactic Federation is under attack by Space Pirates, and Samus has to stop them from planting lethal Phazon seeds, and taking over the living computers that make up the network. The chief villain behind this fiasco is none other than Dark Samus, an evil twin.

Players get to play from a first-person point-of-view, where they follow the way of the gun. The gun does about anything in the game, especially opening doors, shooting robots for information, you name it. As Metroid Prime 3: Corruption progresses, Samus receives more abilities such as missiles and plasma blasts. She (that's right, this is a video game with a female protagonist) can turn into a morph ball, rolling through narrow tubes and dropping concussion bombs. Samus also has a spaceship that is completely under her control that the player uses for certain errands.

The game is presumably called Corruption because the character has many encounters with Phazon, a substance that gives Samus phenomenal firepower, but will ultimately corrupt her.

This game is quite a lot of fun, and intellectually challenging. I recommend playing it with the Wii 2 in 1 Combined Light Gun. The 2 in 1 Combined Light Gun is a simple product from Brando that is a simple, inexpensive piece of plastic that turns the Wiimote and nunchuk into a controller that resembles a gun.

Keep in mind that in order to get the 2-in-1 Combined Light Gun working for Metroid Prime 3, you will need to switch the controls so that the trigger controls the shooting and A is to jump. Normally, the game defaults with B to jump and A to shoot, but they can be reversed in the Options section simple enough.

Playing with the combined Light Gun is awkward to say the least, and it takes a while to get used to it. However, it is worth the adaptation. It is enough to keep you playing standing on your feet, making you feel like you are there in the midst of the Metroid universe in Samus’ space armor.

Metroid Prime 3: Corruption is on sale now for about $50 at video game retailers everywhere. The 2-in-1 Light Gun is available at the Brando website for less than $20.
