Michael Jackson - An Icon

June 26, 2009 Michael Jackson died at the age of 50. A great loss for the entertainment world and its listeners and viewers.

Michael is best known for his ‘work of art’ Thriller. This album gives the listener a little bit of everything. There is dance rhythms, pop, rock, r & b; fast, slow and mid-tempo songs. The album starts off with “Wanna Be Startin’ Something”. As a disco inferno it builds up to a chanting crescendo. The next 2 songs slow things down somewhat. A mid-tempo song on the album is “Baby Be Mine”. You also have the superstar duet with Paul McCartney “The Girl Is Mine”. The humorous “Thriller” contains Vincent Price’s debut as a “rapper”. However, “Beat It” is the song that pushed this album into the cultural fame that it enjoyed.

There are many more stunning performances on the album and it closes with another ballad “The Lady In My Life”. This album has sold 25 million copies and for a long time was the biggest selling album in history.

This is a fantastic album and if it is not part of your collection you might want to add it.

Michael was truly an icon in the music industry. He will be missed by many.
