Make a Change

1958 to 2009 - Gone too soon. The king of pop is no more. One of the icons in the music industry has been lost. What can be said about this man that has never been told. What is worse is he had all the money and the love for the world and life but his music career became overshadowed by his personal life and was more misunderstood. He gave to the world so much and shaped the world of music of our times with his influence.

Yes, so many have been through his path and have contributed so much when it comes to our entertainment history. Michael Jackson is counted among the top 5 in the music industry a list that also included John Lennon, Elvis Presley, The Beatles and Bing Crosby. Not only was MJ popular with the new generation but throughout the generations and almost every new artist was using him as a reference point. His dance moves became a bible to most choreographers.

Michael connected with the audience in a manner that was inexplicable. When on the stage, everyone felt touched by his every move and voice. It was clear that Michael valued his fans and his name. everything he did had to be the best and the biggest. What we didn't know was that this icon was more alone then we realised. As we saw recently with Britain Has Got Talent's Susan Boyle, the fame can have its serious consequences. However, having been exposed to the media at such an early age, Michael had learned how to use media to his advantage. The stories surrounding his personal life brought his music career to a halt and even Michael could not control the people's opinion about him.

I believe the documentary he made at his Neverland home was an attempt to try and heal the world and make people aware of the importance of life and the people we should put most of our energy on. This was also a way for him to heal his troubled past and enjoy the childhood he never had. However this backfired on him as more and more allegations were raised and more questions about whether or not he was able to distinguish the reality from a fairytale. But I still question if this should have been questioned. Who has never wanted to live a dream life?

To me Jacko was able to create a vision in his mind and could focus on it and make it a reality. What is wrong with that? The other big problem is that people who become famous do not have much support or if any, their support do not realise or recognise some of the problems they go through. If they do, they seem to be powerless to overrule them and provide the counselling needed. MJ had a troubled childhood. Though it brought him fame and success, it also brought him the woulds that never healed.

He had so much love and power but was all overshadowed by curable personal problems. MJ was never lucky nor successful in the romance field. He couldn't have been as this was a boy in the man's body with everything available for him. Because of people like MJ, more and more artists someone to live up to and an example of how to lead and/or not to live your life. His obsession with the way he looked made a lot of people money as cosmetic surgery became more and more popular. At the same time more awareness of what could go wrong was realised. The truth be told, in as much as he made money, so many made money out of everything he did and became. Even to his death, more are still going to make money out of it.

I think this icon deserves a huge celebration from the entire world for the life he lived and the entertainment he brought us. If anything we have also learned that money is never everything. Yes it can buy you almost everything while you are alive, but like everything, you live it behind when you die. MJ was an entertainer a supreme musician and performer and will be greatly missed. Who knows where he would be if he had all the support during his troubled years including those court appearances!

MJ - RIP. May you finally be happy.
