Michael Jackson, The King Of Pop who shot to stardom as a child superstar for the group Jackson 5, died today, 25 June 2009 of a heart attack at the age of 50. The LA Fire Department paramedics were alerted and responded to the call at his Los Angeles home at 12:30 p.m. The paramedics had tried to resuscitate him on the scene. He fell into a coma and was then rushed to the UCLA Medical Centre where doctors further tried to revive him for an hour. His death was formally announced to the media by his brother, Jermaine Jackson, a few hours later.

Michael Jackson is considered as one of the icons of the 20th century. His contribution to pop music has been one of the most remarkable achievements of any artists of all time. He has released several #1 hits spanning 4 decades. Having started out at a very young age being the lead singer for the Jackson 5, Michael shot to stardom overnight as a child sensation.

Over the decades, he has continually transformed his style to become a legend of pop music. He is well known for having the best-selling album of all time (Thriller), some other best-selling records: Off the Wall (1979), Bad (1987), Dangerous (1991) and HIStory (1995), recording a racial barrier-breaking song "Black Or White", and countless other great hits that have inspired so many people across the world.

He leaves behind 3 children. Over the years, he has sparked controversy with accusations and court trials on child molestation, and over the plastic surgery procedures on his face. He was accused of putting one of his children in danger when he held her hanging from a balcony in front of the paparazzi. Nevertheless, Michael still managed to have a loyal following from all corners of the globe.

His popularity spans across continents, and his sudden death has caused practically the whole world to mourn.
