Today, June 25, 2009, I was talking to my daughter on MSN and she told me Michael Jackson died. I couldn't believe it. I knew that Farrah Fawcett had died today but I did not know that Michael Jackson died too. I am kind of blown away by this news.

My daughter, JLHanna, a 22 year old college student and I, a 48 year old out of work due to a severe back injury, had a discussion about Michael Jackson's life.

Introduction

Me - I am in shock over the death of Michael Jackson. I just can't believe he died. He was only 50 years old. It sure makes me put my own life into perspective because of it. I am close to 50 and have a lot of health problems right now.

JLHanna - I was sitting here in the living room talking to my boyfriend and he said to me, "Hey did you know Michael Jackson died today?" Like, I should have known already but of course i didn't.

1. What did you think of Michael Jackson as a person?

Me - I was very confused about Michael Jackson's personal life. He seemed to be a victim of being a childhood star. The reason I say victim is because child stars go through a lot, way more than we can imagine. They are a victim.

JLHanna - I was surprised with Michael Jackson's personal life, when I first heard of him.  I was younger but was starting to follow the music industry and what was going on with the stars. He was just a very strange man. 

2. What did you think of Michael Jackson as a performer?

Me - I loved Michael Jackson's music. He was so talented. He was definitely the King of Pop music. The one song I loved the most was "Thriller". That song is stuck in my head right now.

JLHanna - Even though he was so strange, I enjoyed some of his music.  He definitely had a style of his own.

3. What did you think of Michael Jackson's lifestyle?

Me - Michael Jackson definitely had a very unique lifestyle one, that brought him a lot of shame to his life. There were many allegations against him of child molestation. I personally believed that he did molest children and the reason I believe that is because he always had young children around him. Then there was also the problem he had with his skin colour. He went through a lot of plastic surgery in his life as well.

JLHanna - His lifestyle was very unique.  The whole molestation thing was disgusting.  Wether it was true or not, I don't know.  I'm not too sure why a grown man would have a ranch called Neverland.  Also, you can't let children sleep in your bed without someone thinking you were molesting children.

4. How do you feel the world will remember Michael Jackson for?

Me - I would like to think that Michael Jackson will be remembered for his music and his talent. He was very gifted. His personal life was his life and I don't think we should remember him for his personal life because we don't really know what went on behind closed doors.

JLHanna - I don't think we should remember him for his personal life. He truly should be remembered for his music, although, I doubt this will be the case since he was so famous and his personal life was so well documented.  I doubt his music will be forgotten and who could ever forget the man who had too many surgeries and caved his nose in.

5. Do you think Michael Jackson's death will cause others to live a healthier life or do you think Michael Jackson will soon be forgotten?

Me - I think Michael Jackson's death will cause others to take a closer look at their own lives. He was only 50 years old. I don't think Michael Jackson will be forgotten any time soon.

JLHanna - I don't think Michael Jackson will be forgotten anytime soon, if ever.  I also don't think this will make people change their lifestyles for good.  We hear about people dying and gruesome deaths all the time but people don't often change because of it. 

Conclusion

Me - This is a very sad day in the life of pop music. Michael Jackson should not have died yet. He had a lot more to give to the world with his talent. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to Michael Jackson's family and friends.

JLHanna - It is sad to hear about Michael Jackson's death, I never thought he would die at 50 years old.  My sympathies also go out to the family and friends of Michael Jackson.

June 26, 2009 - Autopsy report showed no signs of trauma or foul play. The official statement of cause of death will take another 4 to 6 weeks as they await lab results to come back.

July 2, 2009 - There will be a memorial service for Michael Jackson at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Tuesday, July 7, 2009.

July 6, 2009 - I watched the Larry King Live show the other night, the one where they showed the tour of Neverland Ranch. Tonight, I was watching CNN news and they said there was a controversy concerning that show. Apparently, a ghost-like figure walked into one of the rooms when they were showing Michael Jackson's bedroom. I never noticed anything when they showed the original footage. I did see the ghost-like figure when they replayed the footage on the CNN news tonight. Could it really be Michael Jackson's ghost? See for yourself in the video below.
