The news of the sudden death of pop singer and world icon Michael Jackson shocked the world as we know it on June 25th, 2009. Michael Jackson was reportedtly found not breathing in his home in Los Angeles and had suffered cardiac arrest. He was rushed to the nearby UCLA medical center but there was nothing they could do to save the singer. Speculations have started over what caused this famous musician's demise.

On Thursday, June 25, 2009 came the shocking news that pop music star Michael Jackson had died as a result of cardiac arrest. The 50 year old singer was found in his home not breathing and was rushed to the nearby UCLA Medical Center where there was nothing more they could do to save him. Jackson's death was reported first by TMZ's media site and then confirmed by the Los Angeles Times. Earlier on the same day, news had come of the death of actress Farrah Fawcett, and then just hours later it was announced that one of the biggest pop stars in the world had passed away. While autopsy results were not fully ready at the time of this writing, it was speculated that Michael Jackson may have overdosed on pain killers or other drugs, yet this is pure speculation until toxicology reports have returned. As of now, the world continues to mourn the loss of this pop icon who made musical history around the world.

Michael Jackson funeral arrangements were officially made by his family. Jackson's body was released to the family right after an autopsy was performed. According to Washington Post, "members of Jackson's family were said to be gathering at his parents home in suburban Los Angeles to make final arrangements."  The funeral service will be a public memorial service held on Tuesday July 7th, 2009 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California (at 10am).  There will be approximately 17,500 Michael Jackson memorial tickets made available through registration online at the Staples Center website (www.staplescenter.com).  Also, about 11,000 of Jackson's registered fans online will be randomly selected.  The memorial service will also be televised and viewable online as well.

The Michael Jackson autopsy results are inconclusive at this time. Although the autopsy was conducted on Friday, June 26, 2009, reports such as toxicology take weeks to get results for. At a press conference on 6/26/09, the speaker indicated that the corner requested toxicology, pulmonary and neuropathology tests which will take from four to six weeks to get results for. At the time of the autopsy there was no indication of foul play or external trauma found present on Jackson's body.

The coroner found evidence of medication present in Jackson's system.  It's been reported that Michael Jackson was taking a large amount of medication for health-related issues including muscle pain, anxiety, sleeplessness and acid reflux disease. The medication cocktail included drugs such as Xanax, Zoloft and Demerol injections.  There have also been recent reports that the drug Diprivan (Propofol), an anesthetic for surgery, was found inside Jackson's home.

The 911 call made to report Michael Jackson being found unconscious and not breathing has been released.  In the call, the worried caller alerts the 911 operator that a man is not breathing and resuscitation attempts are not working.  The 911 operator assures him that an ambulance is on its way. While the name Michael Jackson is never mentioned, TMZ reports this was the call made.  The doctor mentioned in the call who is attempting to rescue Jackson is Dr. Conrad Murray.

Years ago Michael and I were having a deep conversation about life in general.

I can't recall the exact subject matter but he may have been questioning me about the circumstances of my Fathers Death.

At some point he paused, he stared at me very intensely and he stated with an almost calm certainty, "I am afraid that I am going to end up like him, the way he did."

I promptly tried to deter him from the idea, at which point he just shrugged his shoulders and nodded almost matter of fact as if to let me know, he knew what he knew and that was kind of that.

14 years later I am sitting here watching on the news an ambulance leaves the driveway of his home, the big gates, the crowds outside the gates, the coverage, the crowds outside the hospital, the Cause of death and what may have led up to it and the memory of this conversation hit me, as did the unstoppable tears.

A predicted ending by him, by loved ones and by me, but what I didn't predict was how much it was going to hurt when it finally happened.
