News Flash

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback, Michael Vick lands his own t.v. show scheduled to start early 2010 on BET. Vick will star in an eight-part series documenting his troubled childhood and his 18-month prison sentence for dog fighting. Producers say the tentatively titled "The Michael Vick Project" is a docu-series, not a typical reality show like VH-1's The T.O. Show, starring another NFL headline-maker: Terrell Owens from the Buffalo Bills.

It seems as though PETA is not happy with this deal. “People who abuse animals don't deserve to be rewarded,” said PETA spokesman Dan Shannon. “They shouldn't be given multimillion-dollar contracts ... or given the privilege of being a role model.” If you teach your children right from wrong, they will know what "role models" to choose. Yes, Mike Vick made a bad decision, but it is not written in any athlete's, artist's, or entertainer's contract that "You have to be a role model". When this act was proven to be wrong, I don't think the kids that look up to him all of a sudden wanted to go out and be a dog fighter. What I do think is that they got an opportunity to see how a good person can make a bad decision, be punished and learn from their mistakes.

I feel that the show will definitely be a HUGE success. Michael Vick has served his time for the crime he committed, so I think that it is time for PETA to lay off. Is PETA's "law" above and beyond the law of the land? Lets keep it real. He has a family to support and bills to pay. If you don't like him, don't watch the show.
