Michael vs Kobe

Who's the best of all time?

Michael Jordan in his prime v.s. Kobe Bryant today. Who would win in a best of 2 out of 3 one-on-one match up? Because of the fact that I'm old-school, I would have to give the edge to Michael Jordan. However, Bryant is the closest thing that you are going to see to Jordan. Weighing all of the factors involved, I would have to base my decision on the fact that Jordan hit 63 points on the best team in the league at that time: the Boston Celtics, and Kobe's 81 points was against the Toronto Raptors; one of the league's worst teams for that year.

Here's how I rate their individual basketball skills:

Shooting. I give the edge to Michael because his career shooting percentage is over 50% even though Kobe may be a slightly better 3-point shooter.

Ball-handling. I believe Kobe can dribble better than Michael could because I rarely see Kobe lose the ball.

Defense. Edge goes to Jordan. Both are excellent on-the-ball defenders, but Michael played the passing lanes much better, and he was at the top of the list in steals every year.

Rebounding. Edge Jordan. Career of over 6 rebounds per game.

Passing. Edge Jordan. Career of over 5 assists per game.

Jordan did score 63 against a great team, but Kobe did it in 3 quarters. How do you not mention that?
