Michael Jackson, 50, was found dead in his Los Angeles home at 12:30 pm Pacific Time on Thursday June, 25th. Paramedics were called to the scene and were unable to locate a pulse. Michael Jackson’s body was transported to the UCLAMedicalCenter where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
An autopsy will be performed on Friday June 26, 2009 to determine the cause of death. Many news reports have begun to filter the probability of a sudden and unexpected cardiac arrest.
As fans and the media learned of the death of Michael Jackson the crowds began to form outside of the MedicalCenter in Los Angeles. Distraught fans could be found mourning, grieving, and paying tribute to the self proclaimed King of Pop. The news of his death made it around the world in near record time as those who adored him, revered him, or loathed him found themselves in shock that Michael Jackson was dead.
The upcoming concert tour was scheduled to kick off in England on July 13th, 2009 and was earmarked as Michael Jackson’s comeback tour. During the weeks leading to his death Jackson was said to be rehearsing for the tour but was encumbered by numerous injuries. While internet rumors of Michael Jackson’s propensity for medication was the cause of his death there have yet to be any reports confirming that his death was in any way drug related.

As a performer Michael Jackson’s career with the Jackson Five was seen from the outside as illustrious. As he took his career solo, Jackson’s infamy grew to phenomenal proportions during the 1980s. At the height of his fame the media picked up on numerous potential scandals and there was an unrelenting fascination with his lifestyle from hence forth.
Michael Jackson turned to a reclusive lifestyle in the years prior to his death where he focused on raising his three children Prince Michael, 12, Paris, 11, and Prince Michael II, 7. His return to the stage was highly anticipated by fans world wide.
There have been numerous reports of health problems plaguing the Jackson career. The 1983 Pepsi commercial fire burned Jackson’s hair and scalp was reported to have led to a painkiller addiction. Reports of severe dehydration, chest pains, and other unknown ailments were the cause of a cancelled tour in 1993. From there, the rumors and speculative arguments continued as Michael Jackson fought legal problems before his reclusive period.
The career of Michael Jackson was littered with such controversy but often outshined by his ability to perform and his faithful fan base. Known as a trend setter, an 80s fashion icon, and a public figure there are few who have not heard of the King of Pop. His musical legacy is living on already as those who have the tapes and CDs of his career are forming small tributes on community sidewalks today throughout the world.
