Micro blog or atom bomb?

Being an avid social media user, I love exploring new additions to the world of social media. Though I am yet to be familiarized with lots of existing sites, which come under social media, due to time constraint. It isn't difficult getting latest updates about my favorite sites and the latest happenings, as I get feeds, which are delivered to me with my morning tea.

From the past few days what I observed most in my feeds is "Twitter". Twitter is an arena which I kept at bay, as I had tamed notions about it that it's more about getting feeds in mobile. Since I am not comfortable getting my personal number registered elsewhere, or get my mobile inbox jammed with spams, I never Twittered.

As "Twitter" has become the talk of the net from the past few days, I found it really difficult to resist. That is how I entered into the world where communication is restricted to 140 characters. I was taken aback about the fact that so much noise could be created from a community where the members are just allowed 140 characters to complete their speech. No wonder they say, some of the world's best things come in tiny packages.

But the tiny package of 140 characters is no less than an atom bomb. Net savvy politicians and celebrities make statements in Twitter which immediately spread like wild fire. Damages are done before people realize and make amendments.

After exploring Twitter I realized the micro blogging attribute empowers people rather than restrict them. A person who has thousand followers, doesn't have to write volumes to be heard. A single statement in Twitter delivers even to those who are retired to bed, but have their thumbs on mobile buttons.
