The Microsoft Zune 30gb media player has officially become the best seller in the MP3 and Media Players category at Amazon.com and has knocked the Apple iPod Nano 4gb from the top slot, which had been it's privileged position for some time.

In the main this has happend beacuse Microsoft has been heavily discounting models in the Zune range to try to grab market share. This strategy has succeeded and hopefully Zune prices will continue to stay low and if Apple could drop it's iPod prices too, that would be even better.

The number one Microsoft Zune has been so aggressivley priced that you can now get this 30gb Zune for about the same or sometimes much less than than the Apple iPod nano, which only has 4gb.

Prices seem to vary constantly on the Zune and just during the time it took to write this hubpage it changed by $50 up from an amazing $99 to $149. So keep a close eye on the prices if you want a cheap deal.

The Zune is great value for such a large capacity and will enable you to store up to 7,500 songs, 25,000 digital images or 100 hours of non-stop digital video.

Suddenly Apple has some very serious competition in the run up to Christmas and it will be very interesting to see what they do.
