Great Drink On A Cool Day

I love iced coffee - it's my favourite drink by a mile - but whenever I have iced coffee it's never right unless I make it myself - so this is my iced coffee recipe.

For this you will need:

Some sort of way to make fresh coffee - espresso machine, plunger, cafetiere, filter coffee maker. If you don't have the espresso machine then you need the equivalent of a strong cup of coffee (2 espressos worth). If you only want a small one then 1 cup of espresso.

sugar (to taste)

milk (again to taste)

ice

carnation milk

method

To make this you need either a half pint glass, or a pint glass - depending on how much you want (obviously).

Make your coffee and add sugar to taste - remember to make it a little sweeter than you normally like as you are adding more ingredients. When I make it I usually prepare the coffee in a mug.

After you got your coffee in the serving glass add your milk - you want to fill the glass up to about 2 thirds.

Once you're milked up add ice - you are filling up to almost the top. Give the drink a good stir so that it gets nice and cool. Coffee shops always forget to do this and when you drink it through a straw you get lukewarm coffee (YUK)

A nice (optional) finished touch is to add a touch of carnation milk - this will give the drink a delicious creamy edge. You don't have to add it, but I think it is a good addition.

You can also make the drink with flavoured sugar syrup - caramel is my favourite. A quick spray of squirty cream can be nice too!

Enjoy!!
