Transient Global Amnesia occurs more frequently in these stressful times.

Definition: TGA is a sudden temporary complete loss of memory, triggered by events other than stroke or epilepsy.

During the episode one cannot recall recent events, recognize family members, who one is, one's name or how they got there. Memory cannot be jogged by showing pictures, describing events and other such methods.

Professionals believe that TGA is short term and there is no long term damage to memory. It is recommended that the patient seek Emergency care to rule out possibility of stroke or similar underlying potential cause.

Some of the events that have been documented to trigger TGA are: Strenous physical activity, Sexual intercourse, high stress levels, acute emotional distress, over work and in some case statin drugs.
