Mind Power vs. God's Power
77Body, Soul and Spirit
God created the body of man with the dust of the earth. Then He breathed His breath into the nostril of man and thus gave him life through the spirit. And man became a 'living soul'. God created man 'like Himself' and hence, man had the power of God bestowed upon him. Whatever man thought with his mind just happened. He was made strong enough in his soul to rule over the entire earth, every living creature and every bit of land.
But when man fell to sin through disobedience to God, he was cursed and the power was sealed within man's soul, making it a latent power.
Dissecting the Soul
Normally, Heart, Mind and Soul are considered to mean much the same and normally used interchangeably. However, Luke in his Gospel, stating the first commandment of God, separates soul and mind, saying, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind."
The spirit in a man gives God-consciousness whereas the soul gives self-consciousness. The soul can be further sub-divided into at least four different functional parts:
(i) The heart (not the organ that pumps blood, but heart of the soul) meant to make the right choices and decisions, and may be related to the will power, desires and passion of the soul.
(ii) The mind (again, not the brain, but uses the brain as the mind of the soul) is the storehouse of knowledge which analyzes and suggests the logical or legal choices and decisions that the soul may make.
The third and fourth part of soul put together is what Luke refers to as 'the soul' which are:
(iii) The conscience, which has the knowledge pertaining to good and bad, right and wrong, acts as a reference guide to the soul in making morally right choices and decisions.
(iv) The emotions, which are the feelings acting as nerves of the soul, helping in sensing and expressing the soul's reactions or responses and making emotional choices and decisions.
Psychology, which is the science of the mind actually deals with understanding and manipulating the power within each of these parts of the soul. While the heart, conscience and emotions are closely knitted, the mind stands quite separate and thus, we can differentiate between the decisions made by the heart and decisions from the mind, revealing which one actually rules over the soul.
The Power of the Mind
Having given the background about the mind within the soul, let's move on to the mysterious and latent power that this soul possesses. God has endowed much power within the mind of man which is closely linked with the brain in the physical sense. Metapsychology, psychic sciences and many other related fields of science work towards manipulating this power within the mind of man by taking control of the physical handle available to the soul, that is the brain. The various degrees of manipulating this power within the mind results in the release of this power through subconsciousness, superconsciousness, transcendental meditation, concentration, yoga, enlightenment, mesmerism, hypnotism, mind control and all those incomprehensible ways of expression of mind power.
Where is God?
When man experiences these unforeseen manifestation of power and energy from within his soul, he feels great. His mind is pumped up, exalted, and ultimately, he feels like 'god'. This is the assurance that the devil gave man in the garden of Eden - "In the day you eat of the forbidden fruit your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."
The ultimate purpose of the devil is to steal the glory of God. He knows well that if man starts worshipping himself as god, then it would not be too long for him to start worshipping the devil, seeking ways to release more of the power. The devil has been quite successful in his plan as we see people venturing into the subconscious to interact with spirits of the 'other' world in order to gain more power, which is nothing but witchcraft, sorcery, soothsaying and spiritism. This very well leaves God out of the picture, bringing man's self to the centre, leading a step further into disobedience, farther away from God's plan.
Forbidden Power
Remember, though there is power within the soul (mind power), though it may seem big, that is a limited one and man has to depend upon the spirit world if he wants more of it. Does the Bible deny this power? Not at all. But it is forbidden by God.
"A man or a woman who is a medium, or who has familiar spirits, shall surely be put to death; they shall stone them with stones. Their blood shall be upon them." (Leviticus 20:27)
"There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, or one who practices witchcraft, or a soothsayer, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, or one who conjures spells, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead. For all who do these things are an abomination to the Lord," (Deuteronomy 18:10-12)
The Lord God Almighty, who is worthy of all honour, praise and glory, is always careful when someone tries to lay hands on His glory. All power belongs to Him and He says,
"You shall worship no other god (including your own self), for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God." (Exodus 34:14)
God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble. Therefore, our Lord Jesus Christ has said, "Blessed are the poor in spirit, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven." God expects total dependence upon Him for spiritual power and hates people when they seek alternate ways to tap the forbidden powers, defiling their souls.
God Lacks No Power
"The LORD your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome." (Deuteronomy 10:17)
He wants His creation to come to Him and seek His face. He is also a gracious God who shows mercy for generations.
His Power is For You
He is always ready to give His power to those humble ones who would seek His face with true humility. That power is more genuine and limitless. The power that comes from Him does not defile your soul. His power is available to you if you would love Him with all your heart, mind, soul and strength. Would a king give his authority to his enemy? So also, if you are away from God and not in communion with Him, you cannot expect God to give you His power. But a friend of the Lord will receive His powerful anointing which is God's authority bestowed upon His servants, when you decide to serve Him truly. Become a friend of the Lord Jesus Christ. Then your source of power would be limitless as you begin to depend on Him.
God bless!

Hi issues veritas, thanks for leaving your comment.
The point is not just that the Almighty God is responsible for the universe and for giving permission to the devil to enter into the Garden of Eden and even into His Own Presence, but that God is also responsible for your existence. Nature may or may not rule over the universe - however, God rules over both nature and universe.
"couldn't" - how dare you say that about God! Rightly the Psalmist says in the Bible (Psalm 94:7-13):
They (the fools) say, "The LORD does not see, Nor does the God of Jacob understand." Understand, you senseless among the people; And you fools, when will you be wise? He who planted the ear, shall He not hear? He who formed the eye, shall He not see? He who instructs the nations, shall He not correct, He who teaches man knowledge? The LORD knows the thoughts of man, That they are futile. Blessed is the man whom You instruct, O LORD, And teach out of Your law, That You may give him rest from the days of adversity, Until the pit is dug for the wicked.
The devil chose to rebel against God and God had to throw away the creation of His hands, out of His dwelling place. A host of angels chose to follow satan, leaving God. God has given man the freewill to choose, because He is not a dictator controlling mankind, but a loving God who is abundant in mercy. Now, if you choose to let your brain get connected with the network of devils and get hacked (your system security is in trouble already), instead of connecting with God through the right port of your spirit, will you still call God responsible for your foolish inquisitiveness?
God has a wonderful plan for you (Jeremiah 29:11) - but if you choose to run away from it and get doomed, God has the patience to wait for you to repent and return to Him even until your death... but if you die in your foolishness, you would be hopeless and helpless. Friend, you still have time to choose the right things... Just as it happened about two millennium ago (Matthew 2:1-11), wise men who really search with their hearts, find Jesus and worship Him.
Lord Jesus Christ loves you! Try Jesus and your life will never be the same!!
God bless!
yep ! the answer if free will--using it wisely is on you and that is what matters. i bet mr. issues veritas knows better not to say the same thing about the Holy Ghost and that is good. the God he meant is all forgiving and it is why a lot of people hide behind falsely and some like veritas go to the extent to talk all the nonsense about. Let us not forget that the fear of the lord is the begining of wisdom and that wisdom sets you free.
Well Done!
This is the closest thing to the truth I have read on hubpages yet!
I don't agree with everything you say however.
You say: God created man 'like Himself' and hence, man had the power of God bestowed upon him. Whatever man thought with his mind just happened. He was made strong enough in his soul to rule over the entire earth, every living creature and every bit of land.
But when man fell to sin through disobedience to God, he was cursed and the power was sealed within man's soul, making it a latent power.
To Which I say:
I disagree and offer you another possibility to consider.
I believe when God creates us he enters into us with all his power but he is asleep...he needs to forget he his the all powerful God before he enters us otherwise there's no point...thus the power is "latent" right from the start.
When he sends the hunger upon man, man feels the hunger for spiritual knowledge...and God begins to awake.
At this point God can either reveal himself to you or you can discover the truth of His existence by reading and UNDERSTANDING scripture. In scripture we are taught how to use the power of God through our imagination. It is IMAGINATION which I now believe to be the power and word of God. Moses tells us God's name is "I AM". Is that not imagination? God allows us to say "I AM " to change our circumstances and "sooth the fires of the furnace of affliction he places us in". So let the sick man say "I AM Healthy"; the poor say "I AM wealthy" etc. When man forgets (or never learns) this lesson he is sinning. His thoughts dwell only upon the terrible circumstances of the hellish life he lives...or others. When he fails to use his imagination to make his and others lives better he is sinning/trespassing.
You say:
"the assurance that the devil gave man in the garden of Eden - "In the day you eat of the forbidden fruit your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.""
To which I say:
I believe scripture says it was the serpent who told man the truth about the truth as opposed to "the devil"...the serpent is a symbol of wisdom.
I don't believe it is possible for an awakened man to fall into the trap of worshiping himself as God when God's full power is granted to him. I believe that you can not realize the full power without actually "becoming one with God". Once you are one with God (i.e. the father and the son) your individual needs and selfish desires cease to have any meaning. Excellent thought provoker though!
I have yet to decipher the symbology of fallen angels. Satan of course is the state of disbelief and denial that God and his power exists within us. I would suppose an angel
is man in which God has been fully resurrected...a man in full control of Gods power...so how could you ever forget this? Nope. I'm wrong...an angel is something different.
Neville Goddard says:
The New Testament writers recognized the Spirit of Christ who controlled their lives to be one with the Spirit
of Jehovah who inspired the prophets. There is only one Spirit. You cannot discriminate between the Spirit of
Christ and the Spirit of Jehovah, so who is the Son? I tell you from experience: the Son who speaks to you in
the last days is David. It is he who “reflects the glory of God and bears the express image of his person,
thereby making him superior to the angels, as the name he has obtained is more excellent than theirs. For to
what angel did God ever say, ‘Thou art my Son, today I have begotten thee’?”
Any thoughts?
On Angels:
Galatians 4:13, 14: ". . . and you know it was because of a bodily ailment that I preached the gospel to you at first, and though my condition was a trial to you, you did not scorn or despise me, but received me as an angel of God, as Christ Jesus."
Galatians 4:14 – that one little thought [in] which "as an angel," is superfluous, because the next phrase is "as Christ Jesus." But "as an angel" – it might stop right away. That is all inserted to cushion him, because they actually saw him as the central being himself. He looked upon me as Christ Jesus, but if you put the little phrase before it, "as an angel," that arrests the mind and you don’t associate Paul with Christ Jesus.
The Bible translates the word Elohim-“angel”. It is not angel, it is Elohim.

Your God is responsible according to you for all the universe.
That includes all the bad and horrific as well. If they weren't part of us then they couldn't happen. This God is also responsible for letting the Devil into paradise,, the Garden of Eden.
God couldn't even keep the loyalty of his Angels.
Evil is bigger than God or good, it is the natural state of the universe. You have a brain, but choose to ignore what it tells you and instead you rely on fables written by men.
