Mini Laptop Computers...

Mini Laptops are so cool. I first came across one at WalMart. They offer the same capabilities as the standard laptops if not more. In doing a comparison between my 17" laptop and the 8.9" laptops, I have to give it to whoever decided to size these beast down!

With the introduction of 3G communication came the need for smaller more easily mobile computers as well. While 3G cell phones like the Blackberrys and IPhones are great some people just don't like to surf the web on a screen that small but love being able to browns your favorite sites like hp's... hubpages.

However it sorta sucks in the "typing" department. I think kids have evolved in the 3G world making them naturally better at typing away on phones like stenographers. But me... I am a 2G girl and while I am all about the next generation there is somethings that I cannot live without and that thing is the feel and comfort of my personal computer.

So it was a genius idea to introduce mini laptop computers or notebooks for people like me who just cannot seem to get into web browsing from my phone. I also don't really want to lug around my 17" Dell Inspiron if I need to work away from home either so now we got the inbetweener.

It's like the regular laptops have become the new desktop and the mini computers are the new laptops. Make sense?

Acer Aspire One

Pros: Comes with 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 Processor specifically designed to stay connected while mobile, Windows XP Home, WiFi, 180GHz hard drive and 1GB Ram that can be upgraded to a 2GB Ram and Crystal Eye Webcam, 2-3 USB ports and apx. 6 hour battery life.

Cons: It does not come with DVD/CD drives but you can connect external drives via. multi USB ports.

HP Mini 1110NR 8.9-Inch Netbook

Pros: 1'' thin weighs apx. 2-5 lbs. is 92% normal sized keyboard, 8.9'' display, built in webcam, PC, 1.6 GHz processor, 1000MB Ram 8GB hard drive.

Cons: Linux. If you aren't familiar with Linux operating system you might become frustrated with it because it would be difficult for the "regular" surfer to customize or use this notebook to its fullest potential. However, you can use Mozilla Firefox. Mozilla Firefox has an option for downloading FF for Linux users.

Overview: Having read over quite a few reviews on this mini computer. The overall theme is that some users have trouble accessing the internet. If you aren't familiar with how to set your computer to access wifi I would recommend contacting Hp. More then likely it is a human operating error and not the pc itself.

Dell Inspiron Mini

Pros: Comes with 1.33GHz Intel Atom Z520 Processor, 1GB RAM, 160GB Hard drive, Pre-installed with Windows XP Home, 1.3mpx web cam and 10.1 LED display.  It weighs about 3lbs.

The Dell Mini laptops memory can be expanded up to 25GB... that is amazing! It also comes with 3 USB ports, HDMI output, audio in and output and it comes in multiple colors.

Cons:  None. :D

I am a dell user and like the Dell Inspirons because of their digital media capacity and performance and simplicity of use.

I've had my Dell mini for just over a month now and I love it. I carry it with me everywhere. I have a Dell Mini 9 but they have stopped manufacturing them now. I've had Dell computers for a few years and haven't had any trouble. My current "big" laptop is an XPS and it's red :) My mini is black. The keyboard takes a little getting used to but I am so happy with it.

Sure does Univited Writer, the key board takes a little getting used to. I remember back when I first switched over the the "big" laptop from my desk top... same feeling. :D

I also have had my Dell for well over 5 years now and it still works great.

Thanks for the comment UW.
