Neha was born to Commander Pradip Singh Dhupia, who is in the Indian Navy and mother Manpinder. She has a brother, Hardeep. Born in Cochin, Neha went to Naval Public School Cochin, as her father Commander Pradip Singh Dhupia is in the Indian Navy. She then transferred to Army Public School, Dhaula Kuan, New Delhi and completed her Graduation in History (Hons)from Jesus and Mary College, New Delhi.

She said about her college life –

‘‘i used to go out for parties with friends after college hours. but there was always a ‘curfew’ imposed by my mother, who insisted that i return home early and would even look out for me, standing on the roadside and waiting for me to return.’’

Neha started her career with a TV serial Rajdhani at the age of 19.

‘‘well, i related well with preity zinta during the sessions leading up to the final. then, i like narayan karthikeyan for being a young achiever in his field.

padma laxmi was the person who eventually asked me the question... and i was confident about my answer!’’

Neha Dhupia started her bollywood films with Qayamat: City Under Threat in 2003 which was a success at the box office. She rose to fame with her bold role in the film “Julie” which gave her the status of a sex symbol. Her success continued with the dual role of twin sisters in Sheesha in 2005 which did not do well at the box office. She has also continued to appear in films such as Kyaa Kool Hai Hum in 2005 and Shootout at Lokhandwala 2007 which did well at the box office. Recently she appeared in a segement of the anthology film Dus Kahaniyaan in 2007.
