Given the history of pet food recalls for Mixables and the Class Action filed against the company for false representation of the ingredients used in producing this dog food I would not feed this stuff to my dog.
Meat by-products can are the floor sweepings from a rendering plant. The floorsweepings (by-products) include hair, feathers, puss, collars, packaging, etc. Meat is scarry since we do not know the source of the meat. "Meat" usually is any animal that does not fall in the beef, pork, or poultry areas. Meat can be any recycled animal, including cat or dog, but not one in particular. By-products are floor sweepings collected from a rendering plant. Anything that hits the floor and is not fit for human consumption is by-product. By-products can't have "added" feathers or hair but the ones included in the mess are just fine.
Wheat gluten is a cheap filler used by pet food companies to reduce production costs. Gluten is a super concentrated mix. So the wheat is this batch is actually at least 5 times the amount listed.
We should probably take time out from this review to remind ourselves of the good and bad effects of wheat in a cat or dog's diet. *Corn, wheat and soy are resonsible for fever, ear aches, ear infections, bad bread, dental disease, hair loss, dry and itchy skin, bloat, tumors, warts, moles, abnormal nail growth, arthritis, deafness, blindness, digestive problems, siezures, inflamed liver, inflamed kidneys, bladder problems, heart problems, and death. Oh yeah, for the good effects of wheat - reduces the cost of pet food production.
