Mixed Media Painting - Lotus Flower - A Work in Progress Part 1

This is a mixed media painting I'm currently working on. I'm mostly using acrylics, but with a little bit of watercolor in a few places. There's a lot of acrylic gel medium for texture, especially in the first layers. There are several layers of paint and gel, with a few bits of tattered hemp string under the first layer of gel, which gives it a mountain range type of effect in acouple of random places.

I suppose I'm about a third of the way done on this one. It's turning out really good (which means I like it, like how it's turning out).

I want to put some white up the middle somehow, I'm thinking maybe a string of small white leaves. I'm not sure. I know I definitely want a few splashes of a blue-aqua somewhere in there.

There's a lot more texture than the pictures suggest. I wish I could take better pictures! It's about one in the morning, and I took them in my kitchen.

I'll be working on this painting sometime within the next few days, when I get a chance. I have several other starts that I want to put up this week as well.

I wish I would have taken pictures at earlier stages. I will with the next ones. I really like to have them up from start to finish.

Mixed Media Lotus Flower Paining - Work in Progress Part 1

This is about the best picture I could get, that shows the colors the best. I'm definitely not a photographer! The texture is not showing as much as I'd like it to.

interesting work! Is this like on a slap of clay/brick? Also, is this served as display decoration or part of a construction... Sorry, I know nothing about art!

Nice work. It's really good to see another artist here. Yes, I think what you said in forum is right. There are very few artworks in hubs around here. I'm looking forward to your future works in hubs :)

The piece of work shown looks good. Can you tell me the best place where this painting can be placed in a house and why?

When taking photos, try placing your subject upright (with a light background, such as a curtain) instead of leaning over it. This will help with lighting and showing a little more texture.

Looks very pretty, nonetheless. Good luck!
