Professional wrestling has become a huge part of entertainment industry, a billion dollar worth. I think, because of this reason, different types of professional wrestling has emerged for the sole purpose of entertainment. There are two types of matches in this category and people often confuse themselves with one another. One is called Intergender Wrestling Tag Team Match and the other is known as Mixed Wrestling Tag Team Match. In the first one, if man and woman (opposing genders) can be in the arena at the same time and perform. If one person tags, then that person has to leave the ring, and wrestler is switched for that team, but that wrestler has to be of the same gender as of the opposing team. Tag can be a tap on the shoulder or just verbally saying “I Quit” etc. In the Mixed Tag Team matches, players of the same sex can be in the arena. So if the partner tags, then only same sex players can face off. For example, if a famale partner tags her male partner, then female from the other tam has to leave the ring as well, and only the males enter the ring.

Wrestling is an ancient martial arts form which can be traced back to middle ages. Greeks used to wrestle to show strength and sportsman ship, In Egypt, you can see the documented evidence from paintings showing Egyptian wrestlers competing during the New Kingdom era. There are other variations of the wrestling that can be seen. In India, A form it is called “Kushti”, which includes forcing the opponent to give up, touching his back to the ground or forcing him out of the wrestling area. Wrestling mostly includes grappling techniques including clinching, pin downs, joint locks, holding and take downs.

Rules of wrestling have changed over time according to the regions. It also includes cultural aspects to it as well. But the main elements are the same. And overtime new forms of wrestling have emerged with both new and old styles and rules. One type of it is called professional wrestling, which has mainly an entertainment value to it. It will be safer to call it a performing art then a sports, because mainly, as stated before, its for entertainment purposes. Most of the matches are staged and includes theatrics, mocking and holding. The results for these matches are also pre-arranged as stated by some observers. Since entertainment value is added to it, professional wrestlers make a lot of money and each match includes a hefty prize.
