I am a mother of 4 children.Being a mommy is my first job. I have a toddler. I have a son that is 11 and two teen daughters. I am employed full time as a Special Education teacher. I am a scrapbooker, a dreamer and more. I am a "jill of all trades". I am the baker, the shopper, the penny pincher. I am always learning new things and would love to share them with you. I am always looking for things to make life better. I am a re-cycler, a fixer, a saver and a pleaser. I look for bargains and ways to save money without taking the fun out of life. Look for free stuff through out my blog. I enjoy finding totally free things and share them with others. I often find samples of things that our family uses or would like to try.
Enjoy, post, come back and bring your friends.
I like to read blogs and now am posting my blog. I would like to hear your stories and thoughts.
Please feel free to contact me about anything you read in my blog. You can comment me here or email me at modmommy@yahoo.com.
i would ask that you refrain from any sexual, illegal or other like content. I often have my own children visiting my blog.

Aha, teen-dom
Thanks for the information on structuring curriculum for autistic children. For me as a new teacher, that's very informative advice. I can't wait to start teaching in the Fall! I just passed my first certifcation tests with flying colors, I'm graduating with honors, and I'm hoping with my fingers crossed that I get the classroom of my dreams. Yeah!
Also, Mason is so funny!

Please visit this video about autism if you have time. There is a .49 cent donation for each viewing of the video which will be donated to researching Autism. This is a deep concern of mine and it is heavy on my heart. There are so many children that need help with their conditions. Living with Autism is a very sensitive and emotional journey. Please educate yourselves and others about Autism. I'm sure it will intrigue and amaze you.
Feb 18th: All of my kids have or had the flu bug. We're doing better now. Here's a site I found about what do do when mom is sick. Check it out.
Feb 27- OMG! I don't think that I'm having good luck today! First, I am going to begin with the earlier part of this week. My washer was not draining, so I had to use a snake thing to try to unplug the drain. I found out that if you wash some types of pillows they will fall apart. Well, this caused my drain to stop up. Then, while stopping and starting the washer to check to see if the drain was un-plugged the motor went on on the washer, causing it never to go into the drain cycle. I called a man to fix it. He says the part is 248 bucks. More than the washer was worth... So, we looked on the craigslist site and found a good set (washer/dryer) for one 200. My husband went over and looked at them and asked if we could just buy the washer. The guy wanted to get rid of both, so my husband offered him 160. He took it and now we have 2 dryers and one washer that still won't drain... I now have 2 dead dryers and a dead washer on my backporch. I got a plumber, who happens to be a friend of mine to come over and look at it. He couldn't unplug it w/ the tools he had. He's coming back tomorrow to fix it. So, on my way to work today, running late as usual, I got "clipped" by a guy who said the sun was in his eyes. There isn't any major damage to the van but in waiting for him to decide what to do I was late to work. I missed our faculty/staff group picture. Needless to say, I'm ready to go back to bed and try the other side. I did figure out a way to do laundry though. I think it was quite genius of me.. hahaha! I put the drain hose into a large trashcan on wheels!! But, now where to dump the water. Bathtub, garden? We shall see. At least we have socks now.
Household TIPS- most I've tried...
Here is another persons hub about household tips. This one is a winner, it's full of stuff that I will try or pass on. Check out out when you can.
Until then, here are some tips that I use:
*To remove odors from lunchboxes, plastic containers or whatever soak a slice of white bread in white vinegar. Place the bread on a saucer and leave overnight.
*"To keep your fridge smelling fresh, dampen a cotton ball with vanilla flavoring and place in the back corner of your fridge. It soaks up the smell a fridge can sometimes get." **Thanks To Bare Foot Lass**
**To remove coffee/tea stains or minor burn stains from china dip a damp cloth in baking soda and rub the stained area** (Thanks, RecipeGoldmine)
**To keep ice tea cold without diluting the tea, freeze some of the brewed tea in ice cube trays and use them in your serving pitcher.
**Some studies have shown that eating a daily cup of low-fat yogurt can reduce your susceptibility to colds by 25 percent. Researchers think the beneficial bacteria in yogurt may stimulate production of immune system substances that fight disease. (From MediAlert.com)**
**Look for the labels stuck on your fruits and veggies: A four-digit number means it's conventionally grown. A five-digit number beginning with 9 means it's organic. A five-digit number beginning with 8 means it's GM (genetically modified).
**To remove charred food and burn spots from cast iron skillets, boil vinegar and salt in the skillet. Put a coffee filter into cast iron skillets when you put them away. The filter absorbs moisture and prevents rusting. **Thanks To Recipe Goldmine**
Vinegar and water for cleaning mirrors and windows, use newspapers to clean with instead of rags. It works wonders.
Use a mixture of 1/2 baking soda, 1/2 salt, sprinkle on carpets to kill ants and roaches. Leave on at least 15 minutes, vacuum well.
Make a liquid of instant coffee and warm water to cover the scratches on dark furniture. The darker the furniture, use more instant coffee. Rub on, let set a few minutes, dry, polish.
Keep bread fresh longer by placing a rib of celery in the bread bag. **Thanks To CD Kitchen**
To keep cake moist, put half an apple in the cake box.**Thanks To RecipeGoldMine* *
