I remember getting a model train for Christmas when I was a young boy.  And, I've been hooked ever since.  The only things that kept me from building an elaborate display was know-how, time, money and space.

Over the years, I may have had one or two of the necessary ingredients; but never at the same time.  If there was space and money available, there was not any time to spend.  Working to earn a living sometimes can get in the way of enjoyng  your hobby.  Plus, to build one of those really elaborate displays requires quite a bit of knowledge.

There are several displays available to enjoy at a few locations around Christmas time.  One of the large shopping malls nearby has a huge model train spectacle every year.  I use the word "spectacle" because it is gigantic and extremely detailed.  It features over two dozen trains in various scenes.

Some people are blessed with time, money and space.  But, they lack the necessary knowledge to build a quality display in their home to enjoy.  The lack of know-how can keep one from even starting.  There are a number of good guides available to enable even the beginner to build an attractive display.  The truth is, with the right information, anyone can create the model train layout of their dreams.

It's been described by many people as "the world's greatest hobby".  And, I agree completely.  But, things can and do go wrong.  You can have derailments, a motor burnout, scenery disasters, or an electrical short can bring the traffic to a halt. Unexpected problems can take forever to solve and the right answers can be hard to find.

It isn't necessary to be good with your hands, be an electrician, or be a carpenter or an artist to create your own detailed model train layout.  What you do need is the right information, laid out in the right way, so that you can make the right decisions that lead to your layout being created in the correct sequence from the ground up.

Once you have all of this in your hands, it's only a matter of time until you're sitting back, relaxing, and watching your dream model trains run!  You really do deserve to have the model train layout of your dreams!
