From humble beginnings masterful model railway layouts are born.  No matter your skill level, no matter how much money you have to spend on your model railway layouts, it’s good to know, that roam wasn't built in a day, nor did Michael Angelo paint the sixteenth chapel over night. 

All you really need is the desire to create your first layout. Even if you can’t come up with an Idea right away of what you want your model railroad to end up looking like, it’s only a few clicks away to a vast verity of ideas on the internet.

Some things you might want to consider might be as follows:

First off, how much space do I have?.  Limited space is usually always a concern for your model railway layouts, I don’t know anyone who has an unlimited amount of space in which to construct the ideal model railroad.

It might be wise to start with something like a full 4 by 8 sheet of plywood to mount your first Model railway layout on.  If you use just a little bit of creativeness and plan ahead, this type of layout can be picked up and with some edge modification be place against a wall out of harm’s way, when space really becomes an issue. 

I don’t now how many different railway layouts I have constructed this way making sure during the design process that everything is secured to the table or board in this case.

This will do a couple of things for you.  It will make you think about what type of scenery you want, and provide you with incentive to be extra creative about how much, might be too much for your fist time.

As you learn the basics of how to construct different features in your model railway layouts, you will become familiar with what works and what doesn’t.  You will also learn to accomplish what might now seem like daunting tasks in a few simple shorts steps rather than the assumed lifetime commitment.

Although model railroading for many is a life time passion, you don’t have to devote your life to coming up with and constructing a very fine, workable model railway layout There are many fine timely publications as well as books and even eBooks on the subject that can help in all aspects of  building Model railway layouts
