Model Train Scenery
70One of the most important parts of your model railroad is of course the scenery and the layout that you decide to choose. This is so important if you are looking to create a great model train display. The model trains that you choose to buy are important but they just don't look right if they don't have a good backdrop.
Model train scenery can include a whole range of things including grass, trees, houses, bridges, cars, animals and other similar items that can all be bought from special model train stores or a good modelling store. Don't worry, if you decide to buy these items you will soon find that they are not to expensive however you always have the alternative of building your own model railroad scenery.

Building the Perfect Model Train Scenery
If you haven't built your own model train scenery before you could however it's best that you start off with something quite simple as this will give you the experience to start on bigger things once you get the hang of things. Most beginners start out by creating a very simple landscape with grass and trees and then build on these adding buildings, cars and other cool features.
Buying Scenery
Buying model railway scenery is another option if you are not very creative. Most model stores sell scenery that will be perfect for your needs. If you go this route it would still be best to start off with the basics and build upon them. If you buy all of the scenery at once make sure you have planned what you need in advance as buying a lot of scenery can be quite expensive.
A Few Points To Remember...
Remember it's important that you don't choose all your scenery at once. Start with the basics and build the backdrop overtime as this will give you a great advantage and should help improve your model railroad layout.
Try buying and building your own scenery, a good mix of both can work very well together. I try and build the basic scenery myself and buy the more advanced items such as houses and large buildings. Make sure the two types of scenery match though as if you work it wrong they scenery won't work well together.
Finally, your scenery doesn't have to be perfect. I don't think anybody who collects model trains really thinks that there backdrop is perfect even when it looks lifelike so don't even try to build a perfect railroad. Build something that you like and will enjoy working on. Good luck with your model railroad scenery!
