Is this style of Chandelier a thing of the past?
Is this style of Chandelier a thing of the past?

Modern and chandelier are often two words that you would never think of putting together. When most people think of a chandelier, they are thinking classic looks that you would find in a hotel ballroom or a mansion. Well those days have passed us buy and you can now find a modern chandelier for just about any home decorating theme that you can imagine.

The fact is that you may have already seen one or more of these new slants on the classic look and not have even realized it. What you have to understand is that a chandelier is basically defined as hung lighting. That being the case, the spectrum of lighting that fits into this category is pretty broad. You know that crazy looking lamp that appeared to be an electric squid or something to that affect? Well that is actually a chandelier.

Now while that is an extreme example, you get the idea of what is being discussed. Forget the days of having that elaborate candelabra look or the gaudiness that is sometimes associated with a chandelier, modern days have added some of the most incredible lighting fixtures and there is no reason to not add them to your home.

Modern chandeliers have some very exciting designs to them. If you can think of it, it exists. In a lot of cases, they are about as far from the traditional look as you can imagine. One design was so unique that it had people double taking every time they walked past it. A restaurant that specialized in wines by the glass had a chandelier that was literally made of wine glasses. Imagine the look and how exotic yet elegant it made the room look.

Another eye catching design for a modern chandelier is the ones that seem as though the lighting goes out instead of down. These chandeliers are often designed with a lot of long arms that hold a smaller light fixture on them. Think of the look of a snowflake with lights and you will get the picture. It is very contemporary and has a brilliant effect on a modern looking home.

There are obviously tamer designs that take the modern look into effect and at the same time give the classic look and feel of a traditional chandelier. Not all designs are as over the top as you would think, but they all serve the same purpose to modernize one of the classiest lighting features that you can have in your home.

Because of the wide variety that you will see available, pricing can range from just under $100 to well over $500 for one of these fixtures. Oddly enough, some of the more drastically modern ones are also the less expensive as they simply do not have the design costs of a traditional chandelier. They make look radical, but the costs of them are anything but. Now there is no excuse not to add this classic look to a modern décor. Check them out and you will be surprised at what you find.

Deciding What Type of Chandelier Shades Will Work Best for You

Chandeliers add a very distinguishing look to any home, but sometimes the lighting can be so overwhelming that you need to take it down a notch or two.  There are times that even changing the bulbs to a lower wattage is just not enough.  The sheer number of lights in the chandelier is what may be the issue.  This is the time to consider using a chandelier shade to enable to keep the elegance of the chandelier, but to also naturally dim the lighting down a level.

Add Class to Any Room with Mini Chandeliers

The look and feel of a chandelier is something that screams class at many different levels.  If you have a smaller home or are decorating a single room, a large chandelier can be something that may actually be a little overwhelming.  Choose the wrong one and you are creating the opposite effect of what you are really trying to accomplish.  If this is your situation, try using mini chandeliers instead of one big one.

Take Elegance Outside with an Outdoor Chandelier

What are you supposed to do for outside lighting when you have this beautiful and elegant home, but need something for your patio?  If you think that you have to give up the classic décor that is inside, you are terribly wrong.  You can get an outdoor chandelier that will continue the look and feel of the inside of your home to the great outdoors.
