Modern Curtains For Modern Homes
75Modern Curtains' Role
Curtains are an integral part of our life. With modern trends in home furnishing we have modern curtains which are easy to maintain, look elegant and fit nicely the latest room designs and in-trend colors. Curtains are so significant in room overall appearance that it is almost impossible to imagine a comfortable place with no curtains on windows.
Actually modern home curtains are not only a part of the room's decor, but the play a very practical part as well. They prevent light from coming in, and regulate the temperature level. Of course these things will largely depend on the curtain design and fabrics.
Curtains exist from time immemorial so they have a pretty long history; they have been used almost in every house on Earth throughout ages. Traditional curtains were made of wood and had poles and rings. That is pretty much how they look today with the exception of some changes, like avoiding rings, different designs, and materials.
People are very busy in this modern world so they naturally look for a modern window curtain, which is quick to install and to maintain. But not all the modern curtain styles are like this. Many of them have complicated attachments and are rather tricky.
One of the most popular and easy to install are eye-let curtains; you just take a metal or wooden curtain pole and slide the curtain on it - that's easy! Such curtains may have metal effect eye-let covers, so when they hung they look striking. They have one important advantage which is that they always, open or closed, look and retain their stylish appearance.
Modern Curtains Designs And Styles
Modern contemporary curtains come in various designs, they are available in different weights of fabrics: from the finest silks and voiles to natural cotton or man-made blends. Just make sure that your curtain pole has the right size diameter. Actually curtain poles themselves come in many styles and designs.
Wood curtain poles will be good for those who prefer a more traditional style for their home. Metal curtain poles are usually liked by those who can be considered as a modern home owner. These curtain poles usually made from wrought iron and resemble the middle Ages. Brass and chrome are also popular materials.
You can choose the diameter of the curtain pole according to the curtain fabric: the lighter the fabric is the smaller the diameter can be and vice versa.
There are so called metal effect poles which imitate metal but actually made of plastic with a metal effect paint finish. Don't try to put something heavy or even some medium weight curtains on them, because they are not very robust. If the curtains are too heavy these poles will simply bend and consequently spoil the whole appearance.
Curtain pole finials also range and can make a great impact to the sense of cohesion to a room. Wooden finials are usually simple and round shaped. Metal finials can be more complicated: wonderful twisted metal patterns which can add to the overall room's look or/and underline its unique style.
The modern finials designs include glass (it can have smoky swirls and bubbles, and different colors as well) which produces a striking look.
Modern strings curtains are usually are full length curtains (they reach the floor). Sometimes modern kitchen curtains are different, because in some cases they only reach the sill of the window.
Curtain rings were popular in the '70s, but now they come back again - the interest in them is growing. The rings are very easy to attach; they are durable and it is no problem for them to handle thick, heavy drapes. They also provide some protection for the curtains from accidental ripping or pulling down.
One problem with the curtain rings is that still not many people consider them to be attractive. Some still hesitate in buying them, because they seem too conspicuous, too gaudy, or too bulky if not ugly.
Sometimes it is good to simply change the attitude towards them. You may be influenced by someone else so try to look at the rings from another side. The ring itself is a symbol of eternity (remember wedding rings).
Whatever design of modern curtains you choose, you can set everything in your room according to it, because there is a wide range of different elements available on the market. Make a little research and find what suits your needs and desires best.

I think some people dismiss the idea that windows need something more 'complicated' than bland-coloured shutters or blinders that blot out the light. Good thing you've touched on the thought of comfort when looking at a window as somehow needing a curtain. Good hub. I'm into home improvement myself.
