Mohanlal became the first actor in India who got prestigious title of Lietenant Colonel from the Indian army. Mohanlal is a very famous Malayalm super star and is considered as one of the greatest actors of whole film industry. Infact Territorial Army confered the title of Lt Conel post to Mohanlal for encouraging the spirit of nation through his acting.

Kapil Dev was also honored with Lt Conel post earlier and it is some thing special when a man from film industry was selected for the prestigious post. Mohanlal told that he would join the training campaign for a period of time and will try to encourage more younsters to join Indian Army.

_The Indian Army itself honored the great acting of Mohanlal in two different film based on army's military action. The films 'Keerthichakra and Kurukshetra ' were shooted in original war spot. Major Ravi, a retired military Major, directed these films and his experience provided some kind of extra and original effects to the films. Major Ravi is now focs on his new film based on the sensational Kandahar hijack. Mohanlal is playing a major role in this film along with Kamal Hasaan.

Mohanlal applied to join territorial army before getting the prestigeous post of Lt Conel. Mohanlal's dedication and hardworking truly reflected in the two films and the decision of conferring the post to the actor was warmly welecomed in the country.
