A molar tooth extraction is a scary prospect for most people. The procedure has a reputation for being an expensive and painful procedure. People who have had this procedure enjoy trading war stories on how uncomfortable and agonizing it was. Most of the faults are exaggerated, especially if you are able to find a good orthodontic practice. This is not difficult to do if you are willing to put in the work and find a clinic that is right for you.

Because of the free market, there are numerous orthodontic practices at various price points and quality. Some target only the very rich whose funds are essentially unlimited. Their procedures are quite expensive compared to other options but they offer the best level of service and often offer a lot of pampering to their patients. Cheap clinics do not necessarily mean unsafe practices. There are many that offer highly competent service at a price that most people can afford. The board of dentists is quite strict in most states and thus only the skilled can practice dentistry. You need to do proper research online to select a provider that is right for you. Do not shop purely based on how much a particular practice costs. Look at reviews and ratings that are available on the internet. Examine their qualifications – a good sign is that they went to a good school and have practiced for many years. Be sure to price shop by checking the various websites as well.

Before going ahead it would also be a good idea to educate yourself on what exactly a molar tooth extraction is. The molar teeth are the teeth in the back. They are the largest and designed to crush food (while the ones in the front are designed to break up material). They often need to be removed because the teeth are too big for the jaw, which will cause pain. The procedure needs anesthesia so that the area around the tooth is painless. You will be completely numb. Stitches or sutures are placed so the gum goes back in place. Antibiotics are used afterwards to prevent infection. When price shopping be aware that your dental insurance will probably only cover the cost partially. There will be a deductible. Also they usually only cover a fraction of the total cost. Some of them limit their payouts. So be sure to check with your insurance company to see what the final cost will be to you.

Molar tooth extractions are a complex procedure. Do not be intimidated. Do the research online so that you can find a practice that you will be comfortable with.
