What is money?

.

1 Timothy 6:10

Bible in Basic English

For the love of money is a root of all evil: and some whose hearts were fixed on it have been turned away from the faith, and been wounded with unnumbered sorrows.

Author John C. Maxwell In The Difference Maker:

The happiest people in life don't necessarily have the best of everything. They just try to make the best of everything.

Money is a tool. It can purchase many things, but not always what the holder needs or wants. Sometimes no amount of money is enough or a seller simply won't sell. In addition, if the "wrong" person has the money, it won't buy anything. I've seen people turned away from restaurants and other places of business for being different somehow, despite the fact that they had plenty of money with them. Prejudice can erase the value of money for the holder of it. Thus, money cannot always buy everything and likely cannot buy some things at all.

NO MONEY DOWN

Album: Mistrial

©Lou Reed

I know you're disappointed

In the way I handled things

You're thinking I misread the times

And acted cowardly

And since what I do affects us both

And you feel that I let you down

You're paying a price when there is no price to pay

Lovers trust, No Money Down

You're paying a price when there is no price to pay

Lovers trust, No Money Down

(Hey! lover)

(Hey! lover)

(lover)

They say there's someone for everyone

And for everyone a someone

And some tattoo roses across their chests

With a heart that says Rollo

And some work without a Public Relations man

And do their best work, baby, out of sight

You're paying a price when there is no price to pay

Lovers trust, No Money Down

You're paying a price when there is no price to pay

Lovers trust, No Money Down

(Hey! lover)

(Hey! lover)

(lover)

Now I have known a hero or two

And they all learn to swim through mud

And they all got boots caked with dirty soles

That they get from Squashing bugs

So when push comes to shove get the Harley revved up

The moon can eclipse even the sun

You're paying a price when there is no price to pay

Lovers trust, No Money Down

You're paying a price when there is no price to pay

Lovers trust, No Money Down

Lovers trust, No Money Down (Hey! lover)

Yes, lovers trust, No Money Down (Hey! lover)

Lovers trust, No Money Down (Hey! hey! lover)

Lovers trust, No Money Down (Hey! hey! lover)

(Hey! hey! lover)

Health and Wealth

Health care is often expensive in America and not everyone can afford it. Under national health care programs in Canada, some individuals are traveling into the US in order to pay out-of-pocket for health care procedures that they feel they do not want to wait for in their home country. On the other hand, some senior citizens and others are traveling into Canada in order to purchase medications at a lower rate of cost.

Good health can not usually be purchased and receiving adequate health care can be harder for people of lower incomes. In fact, some companies have been eliminating health care benefits in cost containment moves and I myself have lost health insurance in this way three times. Money may not be the answer, but it is certainly a tool that helps to acquire it.

Considering insurance and out-of-pocket costs, doctors in American usually are paid the same amount despite the quality of health care provided. In response, some health plans and employers with employee health plans like the idea of pay for performance (P4P), based on paying for the quality of medical care given by a doctor. Some of these programs can pay financial rewards to doctors that meet certain goals, live providing preventive care procedures, scoring high in patient satisfaction, using information technology (IT) in their practice and lowering costs in a number of ways.

The US Center for Studying Health System Change has found that P4P is not becoming widespread or popular in America. Their next study is due out for the year 2007 in a few months and they look at this and other medical/health care issues in a large study every two years.

For the love of money? - A Protest Song

It's Money that I Love

© Randy Newman

I don't love the mountains

And I don't love the sea

And I don't love Jesus

He never done a thing for me

I ain't pretty like my sister

Or smart like my dad

Or good like my mama

It's Money That I Love

It's Money That I Love

They say that's money

Can't buy love in this world

But it'll get you a half-pound of cocaine

And a sixteen-year old girl

And a great big long limousine

On a hot September night

Now that may not be love

But it is all right

One, two

It's Money That I Love

Wanna kiss you Three, four

It's Money That I Love

Used to worry about the poor

But I don't worry anymore

Used to worry about the black man

Now I don't worry about the black man

Used to worry about the starving children of India

You know what I say about the starving children of India ?

I say, "Oh mama"

It's Money That I Love

It's Money That I Love

MONEY CAN'T BUY ME LOVE

Can't Buy Me Love

John Lennon/Paul McCartney © 1964 Northern Songs.

Can't buy me love, love

Can't buy me love

I'll buy you a diamond ring my friend

If it makes you feel all right

I'll get you anything my friend

If it makes you feel all right

'Cause I don't care too much for money

For money can't buy me love

I'll give you all I've got to give

If you say you love me too

I may not have a lot to give

but what I've got I'll give to you

For I don't care too much for money

For money can't buy me love

Can't buy me love

Everybody tells me so

Can't buy me love

No, no, no, no

Say you don't need no diamond ring

And I'll be satisfied

Tell me that you want those kind of things

that money just can't buy

For I don't care too much for money

For money can't buy me love

Can't buy me love

Everybody tells me so

Can't buy me love

No, no, no, no

Say you don't need no diamond ring

And I'll be satisfied

Tell me that you want those kind of things

that money just can't buy

For I don't care too much for money

For money can't buy me love

Ooh, can't buy me love, love

Can't buy me love, no

Patty! Another well thought out HUB! Many times in my life I thought how great it would be if I had lots of money...Many times when I bought a lottery ticket and imagined what it would be like to be rich, my disappointment nearly floored me. Then I consoled myself by thinking I really don't want to be rich just comfortable. It is said over and over that money is a curse...please, please somebody curse me already, just comfotably so.

regards Zsuzsy

Money can be a good servant but a bad boss. Then we stop using it as a tool and become a tool in its hands!

Unique hub, Patty!

Another wonderful hub great job. Here is what I think as said in the ABBA song but the song is in favor of ladies, however it can happen to a poor man like me too hahaha. Here is the song lyrics read it & you decide it yourself.

I work all night, I work all day, to pay the bills I have to payAin't it sadAnd still there never seems to be a single penny left for meThat's too badIn my dreams I have a planIf I got me a wealthy manI wouldn't have to work at all, I'd fool around and have a ball... Money, money, moneyMust be funnyIn the rich man's worldMoney, money, moneyAlways sunnyIn the rich man's worldAha-ahaaaAll the things I could doIf I had a little moneyIt's a rich man's world A man like that is hard to find but I can't get him off my mindAin't it sadAnd if he happens to be free I bet he wouldn't fancy meThat's too badSo I must leave, I'll have to goTo Las Vegas or MonacoAnd win a fortune in a game, my life will never be the same... Money, money, moneyMust be funnyIn the rich man's worldMoney, money, moneyAlways sunnyIn the rich man's worldAha-ahaaaAll the things I could doIf I had a little moneyIt's a rich man's world Money, money, moneyMust be funnyIn the rich man's worldMoney, money, moneyAlways sunnyIn the rich man's worldAha-ahaaaAll the things I could doIf I had a little moneyIt's a rich man's world It's a rich man's world

Great Hub, Patty. It was quite different from what I expected to read when I clicked the title, but I was pleasantly surprised.
