I have been frustrated with blogs that claim to give me information on how to make money and lead me to paid surveys that want to take my money, not make me money. I am aware of adsense, Amazon, ebay and kontera affiliates. But, what else is out there? I have developed a philosophy of “earn as I learn.” So take this money making journey with me.

First, I want to share a philosophy that I teach my children. Whether you are working as an executive or as an employee flipping burgers, do not just learn the trade; learn the business from the ground up. Ask questions about products, sources, how they chose their location, how they choose their employees, how they keep their books such as software, etc. I am constantly tossing out my quotes and personal mantras: “Earn as you learn” “Become the boss” “Work for yourself” “I’d rather work 16 hour days for myself than 8 hour days for someone else.” That last one is not entirely true as I teach. I do it because I love it. The profession will never make me rich, it has made me rich.

You may or may not have heard of www.odesk.com . I have read a blog here stating that they thought that the pay offered on this site is extremely low. Hence, my “earn as you learn” philosophy. Use such sites to determine who they want you to write for. Skip the middle man. Write for yourself – “Become the boss.” Use such sites to check out possible new affiliates to sign up for.

Do you have a digital camera? Teach yourself to create slide shows with Window maker III; there are tutorials on the web and it’s free to download from the Microsoft site. Contact local real estate offices and offer to take videos of homes to put online. Offer to take photos of a special event and create a slide show. Have a rototiller or riding mower – put a sign on your front lawn; offer your services.

When you seek writing opportunities, note what subjects that you are being asked to write about. These are most likely already proven topics and top runners. Remember, learn as you earn and earn as you learn!
