All throughout the internet you’ll find money making advice to writers and tips about how you can succeed online.  Some information is vague and not so beneficial, but some sites provide valuable keys to getting new writers paid.  You probably have come across a lot of useless material yourself, especially if you’re a new writer.  But have you found some good money making writer’s tips that you believe are effective?  Whether you answer yes OR no to either question, doesn’t matter because you will find some valuable keys to getting paid in this article.  But as with any key that you may have in your possession, it is only of value if you use it (as you will see in the following paragraphs).

Money Making Efforts Frustrate New Writers

As a freelance writer, and online marketer, I have written numerous articles providing money making writing tips. I share important keys to how new writers can start creating residual income and getting paid. If you do a quick Google search of Charm Baker, you will come across tons of articles I’ve written related to makingmoney online, mostly through article writing. While many of my articles focus on the topic of getting paid online, I also write about other topics (Profile & Article Library link below). In fact, some of the other topics I’ve written online go back almost 20 years ago, when I was still just a new writer. At that particular time, I knew virtually nothing about the important keys to getting paid. I simply wrote out of my desire to write. The writing strategies that I share here are the more recent tips I’ve learned from successful writers who get paid regularly.

Discovering Online Marketing Strategies

It wasn’t until several months ago that I began diligently researching money-making opportunities for new and struggling writers. Like so many thousands of people nationwide, I became unemployed in December 2008 and started relying solely on freelance gigs online. I was totally new to creating an income on the internet. I felt like most frustrated new writers do when they have to write out of necessity (I liked eating), rather than a desire to write. Those first few months, I got very familiar with using craigslist, a popular classified ad posting network. I utilized the ad network to promote my writing services, as well as canvas for available writing gigs. I became proficient at posting classified ads as a way of self-promotion (a skill I would later employ). But I was also learning a lot about online marketing in the process. Little did I know how really valuable the writing and marketing strategies that I was learning would be to me!

Like so many other new writers looking for ways to earn residual income, I began investigating and trying my hand at affiliate marketing. I found that I had a knack for marketing and promotion when it came to my own writing services, but I didn’t do too well representing other people’s products. Some writers are just like that when it comes to affiliate marketing. They’d much rather be promoting themselves with their writing.

Another reason new writers give up early on affiliate marketing, is because so much effort is involved in promoting affiliate products. Most new writers throw in the towel almost immediately, before they even receive their first payout. Personally, I belong to the first school of thought If I’m going to be putting in that much effort for someone else, I might as well be promoting myself! While I was happy for the occasional money I was making from freelance writing gigs, the affiliate marketing wasn’t paying off at all. More frustrated than ever, I became determined to learn the key to new writers getting paid a regular income. I knew if other writers like myself could successfully get paid, I could too. All I needed was the key to how things work.

Discovering Contextual Advertising

This led me on a mission of seeking out ways to get paid WITH my writing, not just FOR my writing. I wanted to “make money in my sleep” with my writing, like other successful writers were doing! I had learned two new phrases in connection with my article and web content writing. Those words were contextual advertising and monetizing. They involve techniques to generate additional income with your writing. I found that I could make money, not just for each article that someone paid me to write, but also by using contextual ads to monetize my existing articles. This would allow me to continue getting paid off articles that were already published!

Enter Google Adsense

I had come across Google Adsense many times in the past, but never “bothered” about checking it out. When I finally did look into it, I discovered Google Adsense is one of the most important keys to generating profits with your writing. I recognized that fact, as soon as I signed up with them, and began reading how the contextual ads work. Not only that, I found out it wasn’t difficult to get started, like I always imagined and it was FREE to register. I only wished I had done it sooner!

Writer's Income Sources Finally Located

I wanted and needed to make some money sooner than later! Things looked promising, and I knew with Google Adsense, I’d found an important income source for getting paid. But why were things moving so darn slow? What I didn’t realize at the time was that, although I had finally located a very key element, I still didn’t have all the keys.

I continued my online research and actually stumbled upon an excellent website for writers to make money daily. It allowed me to select writing gigs from their customer’s daily requests, and get paid when the customer purchased the article. I usually had to give up my writer's byline, but I didn’t mind this type of “ghost writing”, because the customers paid pretty good. I loved the site, but the work was similar to the gigs I located on craigslist, and my mind was still focused on recurring profits. The kind you get from contextual ads. I knew if I could figure out the key to maximizing my Google Adsense revenue (which by now was trickling in by the pennies), I would finally start earning a real income. Through my continued reading and months of trial and error, I successfully began to implement the useful keys I found along the way. The result, among other things, is this article that I am sharing with you.

These are the events that foreshadowed my eventual success in locating the right keys to getting paid. I continue each day, perfecting these methods so I can increase my knowledge, as well as my modest monthly income that I have finally began to earn. The fact that you’re reading this article right now means you may very well be in the same situation I was in at the beginning of this year. A broke and frustrated writer, seeking effective money making tips that will help a new writer continue to get paid. If this sounds like you, whether you are a brand new writer, or just new to writing online, reading this information will help you. But only by actually APPLYING these valuable tips and using the keys properly, can new writers expect to get paid.

Writer’s Tip: One Key Won’t Get You Paid!

Online writers and marketers mistakenly think that there is A KEY to getting paid online. In their minds, they actually believe there’s ONE all important key that will magically open the door to online writing success so they can finally get paid. The problem is, many fail to realize, there is no one key. The biggest writer’s tip is: one key won’t get you paid! In fact, if I had to narrow everything down to just one key, that would be:

NUMBER ONE KEY TO NEW WRITERS GETTING PAID: Always Remember That There Is More Than One Key!

Some may read this and think I’m either touched in the head or talking in circles, but when you read the following analogy, this should help to drive home my point.

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

We live in a society of crime and violence where sometimes even blatant home invasions are common. Not only that, practically everything we own has some kind of literal or virtual lock for safekeeping. It's not unusual to keep things under lock and key. My point being, we all go through life with a number of keys. The keys to the house, keys to the office, keys to the car, you name it and we have keys to it. Nowadays, you need at least 3 keys just to gain entrance into your own home. It may be that way at your house (It is at mine). Your house keys are essential, because, in an effort to keep your family and belongings safe, most families keep their houses locked up tight when no one’s home.

Now say you come home on your lunch break one afternoon, on a mission to pick up a birthday gift for a co-worker. You get there and realize you left your house keys at the office. You happen to have a spare key to the outer gate because you keep it on your ring with the car keys. However, the other TWO house keys are sitting (locked up) in your desk at work. You walk around to the side of the house where that tiny little bathroom window with no bars is located. You pray that it’s open and you can magically manage to squeeze into it. You find it locked as well, and you begin to face the fact: Unless someone comes home early and lets you in with their keys, you cannot get in!.

You remember your kids get out of school early this week, but you’re uncertain if it’s today or tomorrow. Your mind tells you it's today and "they’ll be home soon”, but you second guess yourself. You wait awhile longer, but start to grow impatient so you decide to leave. You drive away thinking "If I hurry, I can stop and buy another gift before returning to work."

Five minutes later, your best friend who lives next door to you pulls into the driveway (with a spare set of keys to your house on her ring). She waves to your two teenagers coming down the street (with two more sets of keys to the house). They’re home early due to a minimum day at school. If only you’d been a little more patient. With three sets of keys, you would have certainly gotten in! (You also wouldn’t be out the extra expense for a second birthday gift).

Holding On Means Getting Paid

This little scenario indicates what happens when new writers start out trying to makemoney online with their writing, especially with affiliate marketing. At first they spend every waking moment on the computer trying to jump start their affiliate earnings, but before long, their enthusiasm fizzles out. Sometimes it's right before they were actually about to make some money! So holding on and not giving up too soon is a clue to getting paid.

It’s hard to believe, but it’s not just the new writers that make this mistake. There are actually some writers who have been writing online for a while. When it comes to their income generating abilities, they leave a lot to be desired. Just because a writer has become proficient at writing good content, doesn’t necessarily mean they are generating a good income with their writing. If it did, that would indicate that all the writers who are NOT getting paid, must not be writing good content. I don’t believe that is the case, because there are too many unpaid writers out there, at various levels of their writing careers, so something else must be going on.

I believe it’s about first recognizing that more than one key exists, then locating the right keys for what you’re trying to achieve. But once those keys are identified, what will you do with them? What will you do with the valuabe information you find in this article? The remaining paragraphs provides some helpful answers for you.

Using Your Keys To Get Paid

Consider the analogy in the story you just read, and how it relates to your writing success. To finally get paid with your writing is solely dependent on recognizing that there are multiple keys to making money online. Not only that, when you get the keys that you believe will fit, you will obviously have to use them! Actually using the keys is as equally important as having them in your possession.

  • To merely have keys in your possession and not use them is totally useless.
  • To have them and insert them wrong or use them improperly is useless.
  • Each individual key is related to a specific lock, and you must use them accordingly
  • All the keys are required to gain entry, which is the equivalent to your getting paid.

Generating an income online and continuing to profit from your efforts means you must use the keys that are at your disposal. Not only are there multiple ways to earn an income from your writing, but there are different strategies to make those multiple ways work effectively. In other words, multiple keys. The various money making tips and strategies that successful writers provide are very useful, but scattered all over the internet. Like a bunch of misplaced keys that you have to locate and fit into the various locks, you need them to gain entry. As you read and bounce around the internet, you may pick up a tip here or some advice there, but no actual formula that gives you things in a concise, step-by-step manner.

SEO Techniques Are A Key Element In Generating Income

I have learned an enormous amount about online marketing and search engine optimization (SEO). Before this year, I hated to even look at the long phrase that held absolutely no meaning for me. I couldn’t understand why everywhere you look online, you see the letters: SEO or the words: “search engine optimization”. Then I learned that it doesn’t matter if you write for a website, a blog, article writing, or affiliate marketing, SEO is an essential element to generating income. Search engine optimizing plays a heavy role in getting readers to your writing. Many websites specialize in teaching marketing and different SEO techniques, strategies and concepts. Unfortunately, not everyone (myself included) chooses to take an online writing course to learn this stuff. I gained my knowledge through research and hands on, trial and error techniques.

You don’t have to personally take a formal online course to help you improve in your “writing for pay” efforts. You can learn through trial and error, or even pay a marketing and/or SEO consultant. Just as long as the key concepts are applied to your writing, so you can get paid. New writers don’t want to hear this, but it is the TRUTH. If you don’t want to do the actual keyword optimizing so you can be found in the search engines, you have to consider alternative means for getting the necessary stuff done. Like it or not, this advice is one of many important keys that will help you, if you take it to heart. Otherwise, keep hoping for that little bathroom window to be open so you can magically squeeze through and gain entry.
