I've only just discovered The Moneyword Matrix, but as a method it really got me intrigued because instantly it seemed to answer a question I've had all along - a question I bet you often ask yourself if you're trying to make money online, or trying to build yourself a money making website or promote your real world business by creating a website.... and that question is:

"How Do You Pick the Right Keywords That Will Drive Traffic to Your Website?"

The Moneyword Matrix is a way to make sure when you pick your website or blog keywords that you'll attract free website traffic.

It's the: FREE TRAFFIC FOR LIFE FORMULA

Finding keywords for your website or blog seems easy at the start, an idea pops into your head, your keywords quickly scramble round that idea ... and you head for your keyword research tool of choice... feverishly you key in your genius keyword ideas and await the results.. and there they are .. hmmmm ... is that good? is that bad? am I onto something? could I do better? It's just a screen of numbers...

If only there were an EASY way to measure one set of keywords -v- another set of keywords!

Well, it's at this point that I usually sack the whole idea of proper keyword research, instead just relying on intuition. Well, intuition's worked fine for awhile, I have some blogs and most pages will get a Top 10 Google placing pretty easily, so should I be happy? What if ... I'd just chosen keywords better? .... what if .... I actually had a strategy to decide upon keywords and feel confident about my choice?

CONFIDENT KEYWORD RESEARCH

Above all else, one thing you MUST have is confidence in your keywords. If you don't have confidence in your keywords, then you start off with passion for your subject leaking away ... until you run out of steam entirely. You NEED to keep motivated, you NEED to believe that what you are doing is right ... and if, from day one, you're unsure about your keywords, then you can't HAVE that confidence.

So, What Is the Moneyword Matrix - and How Can It Help You?

Below I've drawn a little diagram ... now trust me, that is ALL you need to be able to choose the right keywords for your website or blog. ALL. This one tiny diagram (feel free to print it off and pin it up beside your monitor) will instantly help you assess if your keywords are good or not.

Armed with your print out of the moneyword matrix, you can now confidently approach a keyword research tool, type in your keywords and immediately evaluate whether they're winners or not!

See the figures in the first column? Well, those figures represent the number of monthly searches that are done for your keywords. As the columns go across, those figures represent the number of search engine results you get for the keywords.

Let's Do An Example

suppose you are writing a website about growing roses... now, I know nothing about growing roses and literally dreamt that idea up, this will help to keep it real!

I'll use the Google Keyword Tool for this exercise. My search for growing roses gives me an average search volume of 1600 - this figure means that on average 1600 people every month will search for growing roses.

Now it's over to use Google the search engine, I type in growing roses and look at the top bar to see how many sites it finds - 376,000.

So let's look up those two numbers on our nifty Moneyword Matrix sheet....

First, we're looking for 1600 searches per month - and there it is in the bottom row - the term growing roses has more than 1000 searches per month, so these two keywords have the potential to be ranked between "excellent" and "poor".

Next, we have to work out which it is, so now we're looking in the column headings for the number of search engine results - we know from the search we just did in Google that the term growing roses finds 376,000 sites, which means we need to be looking at the right hand column ... so, bottom row, right hand column = POOR.

So, that's not good then is it!  But the important thing here is: we were able to make an instant decision without getting a calculator out!

So, let's move on down the keyword suggestion list that the Google Keyword Tool gave us ... but wait, looking down that list there's a lot where there are insufficient searches - and this could actually take us a lot of time..., so, at this point we might be better off sorting the search volume column. So let's do that...

I've now sorted the large list into search volume order.  The keyphrases with the most searches are now at the top.

If we look back at the Moneyword Matrix sheet we can see that we're never going to be interested in keywords/keyphrases that have less than 1000 searches per month.  This instantly gives us a short list of keywords to check.  If none of these are any good then we'd need to think again - perhaps add in a 3rd word, or start with another phrase entirely... which would just involve us repeating this same process until we found a winner.

So, let's look at the keyword/keyphrase list - there are two terms above our growing roses that have more searches per month - how do they compare?

Both of them will belong in the bottom row of our chart, so let's go to Google and see how many sites we'd be in competition with.

Well, it seems that rose growing is a very popular past-time - and picking keywords is going to be a little harder than this ... but then I did pick a very everyday subject.  But you can see from this how we're managing to literally rattle down the list and make instant decisions!

And that is the Moneyword Matrix... it makes finding a niche THAT much simpler
