November 2008 Update

Moola has some new changes since my article was written, the most exciting for me is a Wryer Sports Prediction addition in which you can take your Moola Money and pick a sports team. Your payout is based on other Moola players so its pretty unique but a definite plus if you love sports like me. Basically if 100 Moola players pick one team and you and 50 Moola players pick the other you can almost double your Moola money if you choose wisely and if your team comes through.

Make Money Playing Around Online

I have recently come across another interesting website called Moola. This is another situation where if you're looking to get rich quick online this is not your place. But if you're patient, online a lot, and have fun playing games, this site might be perfect for you. (Moola currently only pays out to US & Canada but I have heard rumors they will be expanding to other countries in the future. Anyone can join but no payout can be guaranteed unless US or Canadian address as of right now).

Moola starts you out at a penny for watching a quick 5-10 second ad. This penny can then be used to play 1 of 3 games against an opponent (the games will be detailed below along with basic strategy). The winner doubles up, the loser is back at square one. Moola suggests you continue to play your way all the way up the Moola tower. If you win 30 games in a row, yes you would be sitting at 10+ million dollars (I wonder what the paypal fee on that would be).

I think this is a bad strategy due to the fact I'm lucky to win 3 in a row. But here's where the real moneymaker begins: Moola has very recently added something called a Booster Bar. You must download this search bar, (which is a google search with a moola icon in the upper left corner) but this allows you to have a chance at a very wheel of fortune type spin. The Grand prize is $9,000 per spin, but again my tops so far is 50 cents. I've heard the maximum is four spins a day but I believe now that they have the booster bar option its closer to 6 but its hard to tell. I never get more than 2 spins in a short time period. Ironically, you don't even have to play the games to get these spins. Just simply use this search bar and it pops up for a quick spin. Soon you'll get used to when the wheel might be available and look for some information for something online or check your e-mail maybe every 4-6 hours. This wheel money can be used to play but I believe this is too similar to gambling and basically use this spin money as a base and only wager my winnings from the games. Its hard to put an exact amount on my winnings but it seems to average around 30-50 cents per day. Nothing that great, but over time, plus who knows if I get lucky on one of my spins as there are higher dollar amounts available just less likely to hit. If you're online like me multi-tasking its another nice way to earn some spending cash.

As for the games, they are mildly entertaining but not very hard to play. The current 3 games offered are a large part luck games but there is some skill involved some more than others. The three games available is Hi-Lo (like cardsharks), Rock-Paper-Scissors-Kung Fu (a variant of RSP), and Gold Rush.

The most common and easiest to play is Hi Lo. You and you're opponent start out with a 2 and have 4 lives. You must guess the same or higher or lower. So basically a 2 is the best available, an 8 or 9 the worst. As you progress through your 52 card deck you must guess hi lo for 9 consecutive cards to get to the end. A nice feature is the locking feature though. Once you hit that difficult card or if you're feeling a little unlucky (one bad guess starts you back at your original 2), you can lock your card in exchange for one of your four lives. This way if you get a card wrong you will be sent back to your last lock point. You can also choose a lock & switch card which is very handy when a pesky 7,8,9 shows up. You do lose a life but its worth it once you're nearing the midpoint as it is near impossible to guess right 9 times in a row without getting one wrong. Even if you make it to the end however, you must watch your opponent. If they make it to the end and have more lives they win even if you got there first. If neither of you make it then whoever has the most locked cards before their 4 lives are gone is the winner. This game has a lot of luck involved however your locking strategy is very important in this game.

Ro-Sham-Bo-Fu (Rock, Scissors, Paper Kung Fu) is tougher than you would originally think. It consists of six rounds and of course you must choose rock, scissors, or paper each round. However the sensei offers a bonus each round to not choose one of the 3. For example, round one he might give the bonus to not choose rock. The winner of the round wins 3 stripes for his kung fu black belt, anyone not using the bonus material wins 2 stripes win or lose. This gets a little tricky as you still want to win each round but its nice to win and get the bonus. If you and your opponent choose the same material its a tie and the next round the bonus is still worth 2, but the round is worth 6 and will continue in this pattern until someone wins. I haven't mastered this game yet and tend to stay away from it, but it is more fun than hi lo, just more difficult to master.

Gold Rush is your third choice and is a very interesting game. You start with 6 pieces of gold as well as your opponent. A random piece of gold will land on a wooden teeter totter between you and your opponent (it can be 1-6). You must blind bid on the gold, if your opponent bids higher, the totter swings down and he gets all three pieces of gold. For example, a 3 comes out of the mining tunnel, you bid 4, your opponent bids 5, he/she wins all 12 pieces. Once you use one of your 6 it is gone for the rest of the game. After 6 rounds the person with the most gold wins. If there is a tie, similar to RSBF, the amount is carried over to the next round. This game is also more fun and hi lo but again difficult to master, so I only play it sparingly, but it is a nice change of pace when you get tired of the other games.

Moola also has posted notice more games are on the way. So if you're interested go ahead and sign up. You have nothing to lose and hopefully you'll win a nice sum of money off those spins over time. Again it won't make you rich but who couldn't use a little more spending money?

Updated 1/12/08

I have a nice update as today I have requested my first cashout and have a check on the way in the mail. Moola requires your first payout via check (to prevent fraud) and then afterwards you can be paid via Paypal. I was doing some research for my Romessica hub and half asleep the booster bar wheel came up on screen. I nearly won the $9,000 but fortunate for me the $5.00 portion was right next to the 9K. Not bad for a 3 second spin of a wheel. Check out my screenshot to the right if you're curious. I have been a Moola member for 26 days and my earnings are at $14.54 putting my average at 55 cents per day or $3.91 per week.

Moola is a lot of fun. I've got a few dollars won with them, and anytime I want to kill a few minutes I love playing Hi/Lo.

Very true, its a good change of pace from everything else. I like playing the other 2 games but I can't master them so I also play hi/lo the most. I hate losing anything.

At first I was kinda skeptical, because it took a long time for me to get my moola, but it is a legit site. Also, I had a pleasant surprise in the fact that there's no tax for the PayPal method. I now have 10 usable bucks in my PayPal account. This site is the best moneymaking site I've come across so far.
