Scooter Safety Wear

Protecting Yourself When riding:

Along with the cost of the scooter, there are extra costs including:License, road tax, insurance and CBT.

But one of the areas you shouldn't compromise on is your physical safety. This means making sure you are wearing the right protective gear. Things to review when looking to protect your body :

Helmet

It's very, very basic ,but a helmet is built to look after your skull if it takes a hit. It may be tempting for some to buy the low cost second-hand one. A helmet that is second-hand might be have a defect. A single hit could damage the helmet in a way that your eye. Always purchase a new one.

Goggles+Eye protection

Visors and goggles do protect the eyes from the rain, wind and flying insects. Units should comply with Sunglasses can be unsafe as they could shatter when hit. They should be kept clean so as to not make vision blurry. Remember to follow the makers cleaning instructions. If you wear glasses or contact lenses then make certain that the visor/goggles do not impede sight.

Gloves

Have you've ever fallen over It would be very painful if youcame off when travelling quickly. You should always use protective gauntlets or gloves.Shoulders, Elbows and KneesA shirt or jumper gives no protection should you take a fall. Consider at a minimum buying protective wear and a safe riding jacket.

Boots

While it's a thougt to wear day to day shoes like sandles or trainers, you must understand they provide little protection for your feet. There's plenty of cool motorcycle boots which can protect you.

Visibilty

It is good not only to see others but to be visible to other drivers on the road. Wearing black may look cool, but unfortunately it is really hard to see someone if light is bad. I really advise that you think about wearing brightly coloured items (including a flourescent jacket). A brightly coloured helmet should also increase visibility.

The Environment

If weather is good you might think of wearing summer clothing. Don't give in to this as you will surely pay the price if you fall off. On Occasions the weather becomes very cold then riding will magnify this cold. Even with the finest garments you can still feel a chill which may affect your concentration ( riding conditions can also be challenging). Consider getting heated gloves.

It is particularly terrific having a moped and the freedom it generates is great. Always think about your safety. Looking stylish is one thing, but the suffering that is the result of a small crash if you are without suitable protection is another altogether. Lots of people have had awful injuries that should have been prevented with the use of simple and relatively cheap protective attire.
