Baby Bond: More Breastfeeding Meditations

Volcanic Cleansing

Goal: Release Toxins

Affirmation: I am vibrant and healthy

Everyone around us was either sick with a cold or the flu during the winter months. I was constantly asking friends and family to wash their hands before touching or holding my son. I did sound a little overly protective but I did not want to deal with a sick baby in addition to the sleepless nights I was encountering. It was just easier to take care of one thing at a time. To take extra precautions I decided to meditate on health and healing properties. It was then that the white hot volcanic imagery appeared during my meditation practices. During the practice I was causing my temperature to rise, heating up myself and my baby to keep us from getting ill.

Meditation

Get comfortable and allow baby to latch for your breastfeeding session. Start your deep, slow belly breathing and finall ground youself. Imagine your blood heating up, a red hot heart expanding thru vibration, turning white hot and pumping molten blood thru your veins. This heat is sent into your baby to build his immune system, flowing into every corner of his body. Hear the pulsating drums in your ears, focus on the pulsating feeling in your body and now in your babies. See the white lava circulating thru you into your baby. It is circulating, reaching into your baby's fingers and toes with each pulse of your heart. This heat is cleansing. Destroying toxins and germs as the liquid heat circulates his body. Imagine that you see the cleansing occurring. Imagine a germ, the liquid heat surrounding it and boiling the germ until it is gone. With each impurity that the heat encounters the white hot liquid consumes and boils it until both Mom and infant are free of potential illness. Focus on your breath and you baby's breath.

Recognize that heat or a fever is not something to fear but the body looking to correct an imbalance. Volcanic disturbance brings life and health to the earth. After the lava cools the earth is very fertile as is your baby's body. With optimum health comes the need to plan for future events. What paths will you choose for your baby what paths will he choose for himself? It is time to plant universal seeds of desire that will set into motion future goals for you and your baby.

Rain Forest Renewal

Goal: Release Tensions

Affirmation: I am free.

As I was retaining water from my high blood pressure situation I reached 200 pounds. Once I gave birth and began to breast feed I lost a tremendous amount of weight with in weeks. We are talking 40 pounds within the first month. As the breast feeding continued my body was feeling dried out and another 10 pounds. I was drinking so much water to compensate for the milk production and losing so much weight so quickly that I felt the life being sucked out of me. With the intense breast feeding schedule, my sore shoulders, back and breasts, I needed a time of renewal. I was feeling bound and in-need of a mental vacation or escape.

I have always liked traveling to tropical places or visiting gardens. It was this sense of escape that I get from visiting these places that are always full of oxygen and life that led me to develop my Rain Forest meditation.

Meditation

Get comfortable and allow baby to latch for your breastfeeding session. Start your deep, slow belly breathing and finall ground youself. Imagine a beautiful rain forest has grown all around you, the rains falling from heaven, dripping on you two like a shower head. Crystal blue, every drop hitting you bringing a freshness, vital to your babies growth. Running down your neck and chest onto your baby, washing away tension, negative or just past experience that no longer serve either you or the baby in the present. It is these tensions that drip out of your feet into the earth. Deep breath as you relax your brow, your neck, bringing your awarness into your shoulders, arms, wrists and fingers. The tension dripping from your finger tips. Water is still running thru your spine down into your hips, finding tension in your thighs, knees, calves around your ankles and finally dripping from your toes. Continue to cycle these tensions out with your breath until you feel fresh and light in body.

Swiss Alps Picnic

Goal: Reconnect with your self

Affirmation: I am here for a reason.

Spending so much time with the baby was wonderful but I did miss my relationships with friends and family. Keep in mind that I did want to get out of the house, pack up the baby, all of his gear and see friends and family. Some may protest but I felt limited to what I could and could not do with my infant son. There are places that babies are not welcome and you only need to see the looks of disgust around you as people are trying to eat a romantic dinner, or on a date at the movie theatre. Additionally you also have time constraints and the baby will let you know when his limits have been tested and when it is time to go home. I needed to come up with a place where I could see my friends and family on a whim for mental support and not effect my baby's eating or sleeping schedule.

The desire to have my child know his ancestors was deeply rooted for me. Wishing that my grandparents were alive or in good enough health to meet their great grand child. My maternal grandmother is still alive and we did bring my son to visit her but her health has been deteriorating due to Parkinsons Disease for some time. She is not always "On" enough to grasp the situation, unfortunately during our visits we have yet to make the connection. I am hopeful that one day she will grasp that she is a Great Grandmother. With this hope the Mountain Picnic scenario was developed to see all friends and family in an ageless place.

Meditation

Get comfortable and allow baby to latch for your breastfeeding session. Start your deep, slow belly breathing and finall ground youself. Imagine you and you baby are in a gondola taking a ride up a fantastic peak. Eagles fly past the gondola's windows, they are catching pockets of heat riding the air circulating up with you. The gondola reaching its goal opens the doors. Stepping off the gondola and into a mountain valley amongst wildflowers. There in front of you is a picnic blanket spread out for you and your baby. Take off your shoes and your babies shoes, placing your feet on the grass. The basket is full of your favorite foods and drink. Looking up the view is clear and the air crisp. Breath in the air. The peaks around you are topped with snow and appear to be reaching and connected to the heavens. You can invite any friends or relatives to join you. You are connected to your friends and ancestors up in these moutains. Up here are all those who came before you. You only need to think of an individual and they will arrive via the gondola, joining you and the baby for your lunch. The basket provides for everyone invited. Introduce your child to your invited guests. Know at this time that your reasons for being here have expanded and now include the reason to foster and serve the extenstion of yourself sleeping at breast in your arms. Everyone is enjoying themselves and laughing with joy. Breath slowly and feel the joy in your heart from this beautiful moment.
