Most of us work our 9-5 jobs in relative comfort where the worse that could happen to us physically would be the ever dooming paper cut. We don’t go to work everyday with the constant thought of our own safety. However, there are many people that do. They work in what is known as a “dangerous” job.

What constitutes a so-called dangerous job? That’s easy; any occupation that has a high rate of job-related fatalities falls in this category. We’ve all seen the different list’s of America’s top 10 most dangerous jobs and although they differ in varying degrees, there are a several occupations that are on every list.

Outdoor Occupations Take the Lead
Today, the jobs that have the highest rate of fatalities are found in outdoor occupations. For truck drivers, fisherman, pilots and construction workers the weather plays a big part. Severe weather conditions can turn an everyday job deadly within seconds.
Safety Standards Matter
Today, safety standards in the workplace have been improved beyond measure from years past. Safety and health professionals agree that fatal on the job injuries are for the most part preventable if safety guidelines are observed and followed. Protective workwear such as; goggles, hardhats, harnesses, reflective vests and steel toe boots are all there to be worn for your protection.
