Most Dangerous Jobs in America
46You tell me which you think is scarier!
#1 on the list is lumberjacks. #2 is commercial fishermen.
And this certainly doesn’t look like the safest job in the world:
Crazy to think that fireman, and police officer, come in last! wow what a wake up call.
DANG
Scary
This is just to remind everybody of what it demands to keep you're microwave and icebox running, they've to use a helicopter to deliver a technician so that there is "less hazard" of being electricuted. When the chopper delivers a person instead of them climbing a ladder, there is less chance, due to that person not being grounded. instead of getting to ride the lightning, the tech instead is able to absorb the power and allow for it to run through their body. If the tech were to touch anything that were grounded (power pole, ladder, etc.) then we would have crispy fried power supplys instead of a consistant flow of power!
In fact, electric power technician's come in at #7 on the list, whether it's climbing out of choppers or not. High voltage is hazardous, as is gravity, driving and construction. The fatality rate for lumbermen is 118 per hundred thousand workers (annually).
But if you think about it, there are a few niche jobs that have pretty high mortalities. For example, United States President*. Obama is the 44th president. Lincoln, Garfield, McKinley and Kennedy were all assassinated, while Roosevelt and Reagan were shot and wounded. Compared to lumberjacks, that's a staggeringly high fatality rate no matter how you cut it.
