Most Sought After and Highest Paid Actor in Nollywood - Richard Mofe Damijo

He is simply called RMD though his name is really Richard Mofe Damijo. He is one of those you cannot ignore their acting skills in the Nigeria Movie Industry, Nollywood.

He was born just like any other person and educated just like any other person. Briefly:

Born on the 6th of July, 1961, in the oil rich city of Warri, Delta State, Nigeria

He is the first male child in a family of 13. He graduated with Honors in Theatre Arts from the University of Benin in 1983.

He started his professional acting career in Lagos, Nigeria in 1984

After landing the lead role in the play "The Last Omen", and playing to critical and popular acclaim, he never looked back. Joining the elite rank of leading male actors in the late 1980's, he went from one successful show to the other. Thus, he gradually became the most sought after and highest paid actor in Nollywood.

With various international exposure, he sits comfortably on top in act, fashioning a new track for himself in the area of public relations, consulting for some of the biggest companies in the oil, banking and insurance sectors. A travel enthusiast, RMD fancies himself as an unheralded poet (he has a few published in anthologies and an unpublished collection) and says he cannot wait for the day when he publishes his collection and of course, graduate from the University of Lagos, Nigeria with a Law Degree, another passion which he keeps close to his heart.

Presently, he is the Delta State Commissioner, Directorate of Culture and Tourism. Though he is from the oil rich Delta State, he is today among government officials imagining and building a Delta State without oil. He foresees a situation where oil will dry up one day and the State will fall back on Tourism.

Indeed, he is the most sought after and highest paid actor in Nollywood - Richard Mofe Damijo - RMD.

Above all, he is handsome and sought after by ladies.

This is nice to know. I will look out for his DVDs. I buy nigerian DVD's once in a while. It's £5 - what a rip off Philipo. I tell you, next time I travel to Lagos, I'm coming back with a bag of DVD's - its cheaper to buy from there. N300. Lol. Thanks for a nice Hub. :)

Lady_E - thanks for your comments. Its really cheaper to buy Nigerian films in Nigeria because once it finds itself outside the country, other costs will normally be added to make profit. Hope to see you when next you come to Nigeria. Take care.
