Lunch Boxes

My conscious efforts to buy in bulk and reduce packaging were totally unsuccessful when it came to my daughter's school lunch. Not only are kids more likely to eat the cute, small packaged food, but many things are hard to buy and fit in the lunchbox otherwise.

I started with ousting the juice boxes. I bought a small sippy bottle that I felt was pretty drip-proof. At first I bought large bottles of juicy juice to fill it with, but soon I realized that she was just as happy drinking water every day.

Then I stopped the prepacked crackers, and found a good container to fill with goldfish (we go through enough of those to buy the monster-sized boxes!) or cheerios or some other snack-able cereal. So far so good.

Still, other things were a little harder. I loathe using Ziploc bags for everything, even if I really try to reuse them. Cheese? She loves it, but it just isn't so appetizing when it is sliced hours before and stuffed in plastic. You get the picture.....many things she would eat at home, she just wouldn't in her box.

Well, long story and effort short: I found bento-ware, aka Laptop Lunches. Now there is a cute, compact, healthy, and green way to put just about whatever we want in her lunches. Check it out! LaptopLunches.com. I already had a good insulated lunchbox, so I just got the cute containers, but the whole package is very appealing!
