Unique Mothers Day Gift Ideas

These days, everyone is looking for a special gift for their Mother on Mothers Day. This is an idea that is not only very special, but economical as well. I know that most Mothers cook. Some enjoy cooking, some do not, but if your Mother enjoys cooking, maybe she would enjoy using recipe software. This is the software I use to produce my cookbooks and it really is easy to use. There are many things you can use the software for, like planning a weekly menu, making a grocery shopping list, importing recipes from the Internet, or sending the recipes to friends and family via email.

A great idea for your special Mothers Day gift would be to "borrow" your Mothers recipes, make a family cookbook for her and either save it to a disc or print it out, take it to a local printing shop, have them laminate the front and back cover and spiral bind the cookbook for her. Shhhhh - the Living Cookbook has a FREE 30 day trial, the software is easy to use and the software developer must live on the forum - very helpful. So - no excuses - you have plenty of time to produce your masterpiece.

You can include an image on each of the recipes, so why not use her hand written recipe instead of just a picture? You can scan it into your computer and save it, then import it into the software. I have done that with a cookbook of my Mothers recipes and it really makes it one of a kind.

They have several themes included with the initial download and many more you can download from the forum. The layout is completely customizable, so you can do anything that you want regarding the "look" of your recipes and cookbooks. They are constantly updating with improvements, which is hard to imagine that they could find any improvements, but they do.

One of my favorite things that is in the software is the nutritional analysis, which is tied to the USDA database. If the USDA updates their data, no problem. There is a link in the software to the USDA and all you have to do is upload the new data. As our population ages, this is valuable information to have included in your recipe calculations. You can also adjust number of servings and the software recalculates the quantities of ingredients for you, Sweeeet!

Any of my fans will recognize my first screenshot of my Chicken Soup Recipe, which is one of my Hubs. I copy the individual recipes to include in my Hubs, but, I have to reformat them from the original state, unfortunately.

This really is great software for yourself or any cook in your family and it would make a great and original Mothers Day gift.

Thanks, Sweeps Luck

Yes, nutrition is very important and the USDA links the ingredients to specific, name brands, which is very useful. Plus, it's fun software to use. Great results.

This sounds very interesting Katherine, esp with Mother's Day around the corner.

Thanks, dianacharies

I think a lot of Mothers would appreciate such a personal gift. It shows that you planned ahead to give them something special, not another gift certificate or bunch of flowers. My Mother was allergic to flowers, anyway, and wasn't that fond of shopping. Seriously, you can produce this once and share it with the whole family.
