The E Word
EXERCISE. OOoooooo du nu nu nu nu nu (like the jaws soundtrack.)
The word exercise to a lot of people is like a curse word. Or perhaps a forbidden word that is to never be spoken. But as we all know exercise it what we humans need to do to stay in shape and being in shape makes us more healthy and being more healthy keeps us not dead.
There are ways that you can stay motivated, or how about just get motivated, to exercise and stay in good shape.
Why does exercise always need to be this grueling task that you hate to do. You know what I hate to do. RUN. I hate it, so therefore I just don't do it. Now I know the benefits running does, but becuase I dislike it so much I just don't do it. So because I am so willing to NOT run I need to replace that with something that I do like to do. And something that I LOVE to do is ride mountain bikes. So instead of running I hop on my mountain bike and go ride. Whether I am on trails or just on the road I know that I am having fun and exercising.
See that is just the point. It is fital that you do not make exercise something that you hate to do. Find something that you like to do and make a habit of doing that often.
My wife and I love to play tennis, so when we go play tennis we play hard and its a great workout, plus its loads of fun.
Here is a list of stuff that I find fun to do and is also exercise. I can't very well make a list for you, but you can do that.
Moutain Bike - I have some good trails by my house, but I love to just ride on the roads too. Biking in general is fun.
Tennis - My wife and I play often in the summer.
Softball - I play on our church league. its a lot of fun.
Hike - Oh man I love hiking. Last year I did an 18 mile hike through the enchantments. OH it was one of the best experiences of my like. In the spring and summer I try to hike a few times a week.
Swimming - Not just jumping in a playing, but actually swimming for exercise I do enjoy doing.
Hunting and Fishing - Yes I hunt and fish and love it. Hunting can be crazy amounts of excerise. Fishing can be a lot of exercise too. Just not if your in a boat. I'm talking about hiking down to the river and fishing the shore line.
Walking - Do you know walking and swimming are the best full body exercises you can do. It works more muscle groups to walk then run. My wife and I walk together.
There are many more but these are just a few.
Find something that you like to do and turn that into a routine, make sure you get your heart rate up and do this regularly. BAM you are exercising.
See it doesn't have to be difficult.
Now if you are into exercising and working out then I have some favorite programs that I have done. See I enjoy in home workout programs. I think Tony Horton is one of the best trainers and he has programs like P90X for serious workouts or 10 minute trainer for busy schedules. Both are pretty sweet.
So find what you like to do that is active and go do it.
