Motivational Sayings -- Finding that Extra Get-up-and-Go!
69Motivational Sayings
Motivational sayings are cool, because lots of famous people have had lots of pretty epically inspirational ideas and thoughts. We've all heard that attitude is everything, having a positive outlook on life and the future, having goals and achievements for tomorrow and the years to come, finding the ability to achieve that elusive American Dream. But sometimes when you hit that brick wall, like our friend in the picture below, you need a little extra kick to get up and keep truckin. The world is a tough place to survive. I've gone through a lot of discouragement this past year, hitting more than my fair share of brick walls of failure and challenges. And though my persistence and determination was due to more than one single factor, it was nice being able to lean on a few powerful motivational sayings to help keep me going in the right direction. I've picked out my favorites and listed them below. My favorite motivational sayings.
Motivational Sayings
1) "Choosing is a courageous act: picking the results and actions which you will make into your destiny." Peter Senge
2) "However mean your life is, meet it and live it; do not shun it and call it hard names. It is not so bad as you are. It looks poorest when you are richest. The faultfinder will find fault even in paradise. Love your life, poor as it is. You may perhaps have some pleasant thrilling, glorious hours, even in a poor-house." Henry David Thoreau
3) "Why not go out on a limb? Isn't that where the fruit is?" Frank Scully
4) "Fall down seven times. Stand up eight." Japanese Proverb
5) "Let fate do her worst, there are relics of joy,
Bright dreams of the past which she cannot destroy;
Which come in the nighttime of sorrow and care,
And bring back the features that joy used to wear.
Long, long be my heart with such memories filled!
Like the vase in which flowers have once been distilled --
You may break, you may shatter the vase, if you will,
But the scent of the roses will hang round it still."
Thomas Moore

Totally. Real life speaks beyond words, and especially beyond a motivational saying. I've never heard of A Glass Castle. You'd recommend it then? Very good to see you. Thanks for checking out the new hub. I hope you are well.
Your topic is the stuff of Real Life. I'm going through one of those rough times now, due to unemployment. The quotes you offer help put things in perspective--as you said, "keep on truckin'" Someone said to me, a long time ago, that there's a phrase in the Bible that appears often: "And it came to pass". The point was that things do "pass" although it doesn't seem that way when we're in the middle of the thunderstorm. What has helped me (cancer and chemo, a daughter dying at age 22 because of a bullet) has been a relationship I have with Somebody bigger than I am, Someone I can trust, Someone who's proven over and over to be reliable.
You are offering these proverbs when our whole nation is going through rough times financially...thanks for sharing.
thanks for the positive sayings. Someone I know had been sharing stuff from fail blog all day and these were refreshing positive things. ;)
I really like the last one. Thank you for sharing!
Yep, these kinds of words are perfect for remembering why we keep on keepin' on. I especially love that last one by Thomas Moore. Awesome! :)
I liked the Japanese Proverb - yep been there before -I stand I fall, I stand I fall .... and on it goes until one day -I stand

Thanks you guys. I hope these motivational quotes helped make your life great and inspirational today.
What a total cool article. I think in the past three years the brick walls I have hit are so many I have learned to come through unscathed except tfor a few scratches. The motavational quotes are great.

Tonight I finished reading A Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls. Her life tells more about motivation and getting back up to begin anew than any motivational saying. I am always amazed at the stories that come out of real lives versus fiction, aren't you?
