Motorola recently unveiled its new Krave ZN4 phone for Verizon Wireless, billed as "the first interactive clear flip, full-touch phone."

The Krave ZN4 has a stylish, futuristic looking design that is slim and light to carry around. The clear flip cover protects the phone's main touch display, but also acts as a secondary touch screen, so you can access many of the phone's features without ever flipping it open, including the music player, the photo folder, and the VZ Navigator. (The cover's touch screen is easily turned off with a button on the side, for times when the phone is being carried in a purse or pocket.) You can also make voice dial calls without opening the cover, by speaking the name or number of the person you want to call, and once the connection is made, you can use the cover's touch controls to transfer it to a Bluetooth headset, end the call, and more. You can transfer from speakerphone to regular audio simply by opening the cover.

The rest of the phone's features can also be accessed by opening the cover. The bright, colorful display measures 240x400 pixels, or 2.8 inches, and the touch interface is both accurate and quick to respond. There is an onscreen numeric touchpad and a full QWERTY keyboard for text messaging. The phone's accelerometer handles rotating between different keyboards and other features quickly and easily.

The 1000 contact phone book allows up to five phone numbers per contact, as well as two email addresses. You can assign friends different ring tones. The phone also offers full support for text and multimedia messaging. Other productivity enhancers include a calendar, alarm clock, calculator, tip calculator, and world clock. The phone's VZ Navigator offers both visual and audio directions, as well as some special features like the ability to search local movie times.

The Krave ZN4 has a full-line of multimedia features, including V CAST Music with Rhapsody, ten channels of V CAST MobileTV and V CAST Video, Visual Voice Mail, Mobile Email (current supporting Yahoo, Windows Live, Gmail, AOL, AIM, and Verizon.net POP3 accounts), PC syncing, streaming video, and more. The phone has a 3.5mm headphone jack, so you can listen to your favorite music or videos privately, and Stereo Bluetooth support, so you can do it wirelessly. The web browser can access both mobile and standard websites.

The 2 megapixel camera produces good quality photos, but has few editing features besides Digital Zoom. The camcorder can record up to an hour.
